hi, i have been growing my hair for about 2 years or so and am aiming to grow it for a few more years yet! i had a trim a few months ago but other than that, nothing.
my hair is layered (front/bangs reaches bottom of my chin, back is down between shoulderblades) and it all fits into a pony tail fine EXCEPT for the sides just above my ears and these little 2-3inch hairs which stick out and are very noticable! so much so that i don't wear it in a pony tail. i try putting it behind my ears but its too short and doesn't really grow at all.
my routine is i shampoo and condition every day, towel dry or naturally dry, then headband/violently nod to help it dry faster, i dont brush it into style or put it behind my ears (my hair is thick and wavy, curls at the ends).
can somebody please give some advice on why this is so and how i could overcome it? or do i just have to grin and put up with it?! others i know who have long hair havn't had this problem, and im going to need to have my hair in ponytail next year for work or university.
i will try my best to post both a photo of me without hair in pony tail, and hair in pony tail but at the moment do not have a current enough photo :(
You have three options...and really maybe only two....
First, you can try letting them grow out. Note that a lot of people try that and those pesky hairs never get all that long. So this option may not work.
During the growing process, your best bet is do use a spray bottle of water and spray it a little, just enough to where it will lay flat and not stick out. Use a brush that will make the hair lay flat. Then once you have it in place, spray some hairspray or spray gel on it to hold it down. Give it a few months to grow and see if it gets better.
If you're like most people, it'll never get all that long. In this case, trim just those hairs short. It won't affect your overall appearance at all. No one will know but you.
