That's right, CHEMICALLY, and I'm not ashamed to admit it! Of course it is the second time in 2 weeks, because it didn't quite take the first time. I went back yesterday and they re-straightened for free. I've yet to wash my hair(you have to wait 48 hours after it's been straightened), but hopefully it will work this time. The first time around it gave my hair a much better feeling and texture. Hopefully it wasn't a MASSIVE mistake. What do you think?
how does it look? if it makes your hair look better, then way to go!
Why do you suppose it didn't work the first time? Did you shampoo just prior to the straightening? I have read that doing that, especially if you use certain shampoos containing silicone, that chemical treatment will not work very well.
They suggested some special shampoos that they carry wich of course I bought. They say to wait at least 48 hours until you wash it which is exactly what I did. Some areas of the hair just need the relaxer on a bit longer(according to them).
about roughly how long was the process and the cost,,i am considering doing it my self,,,,just curious as to what all was involved,,and if it is safe for colored hair
ps,,post some pics,,would love to see the before and afters
It cost about $80 and the whole entire process took a good hour and a half to 2 hours. Their primary substance was a horrid nausiatingly smelling relaxer which they put on several times. The reason it didn't work the 1st time was because some sections need the relaxer on a bit longer, which is impossible to determine the 1st time around. Unfortunately, I don't have the technology to post any pictures.
Almost 2 HOURS, foul smelling relaxer ... I hear alarms going of everywhare. I don't want to give you a heartattack but NEVER DO THIS AGAIN!!!!
Two times in two weeks? YIKES! That's bad!
Don't be surprised if you see severe hair damage in a few weeks.
I'm not against straightening, but you have to do your homework first. Never use a straightener with lye. There are more gentle and equally effective (albeit usually more expensive) options.
I don't think you should have had the second one done. The chemicals in relaxers are very harsh and they really fry your hair. It'll feel good for a few days, but I fear you'll see the real damage before long.
Good luck.
How about sooner? I've seen it happen many times.
The thing is, it's the harsh ones that get the "best" results. At least that's what a lot of hairdressers say. Why? Well, because it's those harsh, damaging chemicals that straighten the hair.
Yep.
He's going to need it. Some hairtypes are more resistant to damage but if you have fine hair it might start breaking of. I can understand the impatience but trying to rush it is not the key.
i love it i love it
it is straight and has a good loose flow, man it is nice,,before my hair would touch my eyebrows in the front ,,,after straighting it ,,,,it hangs in my eyes..so cool..i am on my sixth month and was really getting close to cutting it off,,,now i know i can make it..thanks to every one here..see ya
I'm proud of you!
I've said it before, and I'll say it again: Relaxers WILL fry the living hell out of your hair. I know, because I speak from experience.
Instead of straightening, I now have my hair micro-braided. It looks cool, and it lets my hair hang down. :)
Some might find this interesting and some may have done it already. My beautician refuses to chemically straighten hair because it is so harsh on hair period. Most straighteners contain Lye and if they say they do not then they use a Lye substitute.
Tanna does this instead she uses a string Perm solution and applys it with a brush onto the hair continually as she applies it.This works terrific in relaxing curl and if needed she repeats the process in 6 weeks. Over a period I have seen one customers hair gro from curls to beautiful almost straight blond tresses past his shoulders. It has a very slight amount of "body curl " and he is thrilled with the results and more importantly they did not use harsh chemicals to do the job. Talk to your stylist about this process and get their input befor you do something that may damage your hair.
Dawn
lucky you. i tried it twice and it had no effect whatsoever (except ruining me financially). my hair is a chaos theory.
l8r.
....i am thinking of getting it done in the next few days how much does it cost, and does it work great.. email me at angel_kisses019@hotmail.com thanks~
I did mine too, and it was so expensive and time consuming. I just hate my frizzy, kinky hair. I am so jealous of people with naturally straight hair. I can't keep from staring at them! I have to have my hair straightened every other month. It is costing me a fortune. I am looking for a partime job just to support this habit.
