the mullet? I have a mullet and it's grown past shoulder length. It's a hairstyle that I've always admired, I'm proud to say. No, I don't live in a trailer and my wife and I are not related (not to my knowledge). Why is there so much animosity towards the mullet, one of the coolest hairstyles ever? Is a guy with a mullet considered a longhair by you guys? I'm being serious here.
I can't speak for everyone, but to me a mullet looks really bad. I just don't like it. Either have long hair or don't.
I don't consider guys with mullets to be "longhairs". But that's just me, and this isn't my board, and my opinion doesn't reflect that of the board.
Like any other style; some look good, some look just OK, and some look bad. My hair is Probably more a mullet-style than anything else. It is longer in the back than elsewhere. The type of mullets I don't care for are those that are basically a crewcut or really short hair with a "fringe" of long hair at the base of the neck. Mine is full in the back, pretty much all one length from the crown of the head to where it hangs down my back about 5 or 6 inches below my collar. I keep the sides clipped at a little above mid-ear level, and the front, if combed forward, is about mid-nose level. It works for me.
A mullet is like a strip club, all business in the front, party in the back.
There is lots of good mullet threads if you go back in the archives.
I've seen some that are cut in such a way that
they look like a longhair...
but that seems to be very rare.
...look good, some look bad. Personally, I think they're fine, but when the back is quite long (Joe Elliot in the Def Leppard days around Pour Some Sugar on Me, Billy Ray Cyrus), I don't think it's as appealing. That's my two cents...
With a mullet, at least some of the hair is long. For me, that has to be better than short hair. I'd rather see hair that is all long, but don't have stereotyped ideas about people with mullets (or short haired clones in suits either).
I hate them and whenever I see a guy with a decent length mullet, I always think to myself "God, that guy's hair would look amazing if he would have let the rest grow!" I just think they're pointless, ugly and lazy (yes, lazy... "Hey ma, look at me! My hair don't get in my eyes!") Sorry if I'm being overly stereotypical...
was Bill Cody's.
Anyway, I really don't discriminate or stereotype people by hair. Mullets aren't my favorite look, but I've seen some good ones; I've also seen some really bad ones. Same with any haircut. You probably look good with one if you like it, and have had it a while.
Are you a true "longhair." I dunno what "longhair" really means. Does it mean when your hair is longer than normal, when it is at your waist, where? I start to notice people as "long(ish)hairs" when their hair touches their collars. Being a longhair, to me, is more an attitude. So, do you feel like a longhair?
Cheers
Well, you can have all the attitude in the world but if you have short hair then you aren't a longhair. Being a longhair isn't that big of a thing but most definately the proof is on your head.
Many years ago I had a mullet, very short in the front, almost down
to the waist in back. I liked the way it looked, but gave up on
it because the hair care professionals I went to couldn't grasp
the concept. I just gave up and an went to growing it back to
waist length (where it was before the mullet).
Why is there so much animosity towards the mullet? I have no idea.
Is a mullet considered a long hair? Yes. In the back it was almost
waist length.
Most mullets (99%?) don't go past the top of the shoulder.
Those sporting mullets show a suprising need to keep most of their hair very short. It's hard to grow long hair if you keep cutting it short. Here we encourage guys to not only grow their hair a little long but to grow it really long (unless they really don't want to).
Mullets go away if you stop cutting your hair.
i agree with most of the other postings too...some do look good. i personally am not a fan of the extreme mullet, aka the old billy ray cyrus look, but i have seen many other versions of the mullet that i thought looked great...but to each his own. in a world filled with buzz cuts and power bangs, right now, any length is aok with me!
