I'm growing my hair out and I've noticed it wont stay detangled in the back for any period of time. It's just as long in the front but I have no problem with it. Any suggestions or even explanations would be greatly appreciated.

"Sign said long-haired freaky people need not apply so I tucked my hair up under my hat and went in to ask him why. Man said "why you look like a fine, upstanding young man, I think you'll do" so I took off my hat and said "Imagine that, me working for you".-Five man electric band (I think) (or is it tesla?)
not sure i can help w/ you hair problem; try another conditioner...?
the lyrics you quoted were indeed from a tune by five man electric band, the song is titled, 'signs' (1971) and was covered by tesla.
I have the best results with Systeme Biolage detangler after every shampoo. Can't live without it and a side benefit is it makes your hair really shiny!

Tesla: a great scientist and engineer in th eworld of electricity, whom we're only beginning to appreciate near the end of this century. One can't go wrong associating one's long hair with a band associated with Tesla.

Yeah, I've done a lot of reading about Tesla and I'm even considering building a tesla coil (a high frequency resonant transformer used to produce very high voltages). It kind of supprised me to see anyone mention him as the majority of the public has never heard of or heard little about him despite the fact that none of our lives would be the same had he never lived.
Thanks for all of the advice, I've yet to try anything but we shall soon see.

Tesla coil? With all that Tesla has contributed, I would have picked something a bit more obscure. No doubt you have seen a book that consists of the inventions of Tesla. It's a huge book.
Does anyone know of a good book or site on Tesla?
As tangles, the most important thing is being willing to spend the time needed to take care of your hair.
Here's what I do and I have had excellent success:
Get a empty spray bottle (one which costs a dollar in K-Mart) and add 1 part quality conditioner to about 20 parts water.. Spray a few times on the hair just before combing out with a wide toothed comb.. Start at the bottom of the hair and work your way UP..
Another method I use is to get a wide brush (the ones with the large, evenly spaced bristles with the knobs on the ends) and tap the hair with it (don't stroke) and gradully began to work the tangles out.. If this works as good for you as it does for me, you'll be amazed at how well it detangles.. Especailly on dry hair..
(and I hate to admit it, I remember VERY WELL when that song came out in 1971..)

I have a simple routine- I use shampoo lightly about 2-3 times per week only. The other 4-5 days I use Pantene Pro V conditioner only, Before I get in the shower I very gently comb and smoothe out my hair with a very wide toothed comb to get out many of the tangles first. I then wet my hair with warm water work in the shampoo for no more than thirty seconds and rinse out immediately. I then put in the conditioner and while in the shower take the wide tooth comb and very gently work out any tangles- then I rinse with warm water then cool water at the end and a gain use the comb while the cool water is hitting my hair- this will assure you very little tangles when you get out- also I do not lose a significant amount in my comb when I do it this way. I've seen several answers, but none seems to get at the root of the problem. I've noticed that my hair tangles when I wear it in a pony tail, although it doesn't when I don't. I finally figured out why. The angle of my hair when it hits the top of my shirt is such that moving my head around causes the hair to sort of work its way up, starting a dreadlock action. I don't have a solution other than to be cognisant of the fact that the problem is there and brush or comb (even finger-comb) regularly enough that the problem does not propagate itself.
