That's what somebody said to me once. "So, what are you going to do this summer...get it CUT?" What?!
There are plenty of longhaired GIRLs in the summer. Just look around.
I think Nature provides hair to keep you WARM in the winter..
and COOL in the summer.
What say you?
I can see how long flowing hair can be an elemental shield for the head and face. Hot or cold, rain or shine, the advantages are infinite! Peace!
As I say on my site:
Chant this: "It's worth any problems that it may cause."
...(Dwell upon this daily and strive to grow it longer)
It's all up to your attitude that you want to have about it.
The summer of 2001 coincided with the worst of my awkward phase (big hair - think bad late-70's) and it was very, very HOT with a depressing, bushy, style-less, heat-retaining lump of protein on my head !! Now it's properly long it doesn't feel hot at all. That's my experience FWW.
I agree with your post. If longhaired girls can withstand the heat and humidity in the summer months, why can't guys? And yes, hair does keep you cool in the summer, along with preventing sunburn. Have you ever seen a guy with bald head get sunburn? I have, and it looks awful--like a major case of dandruff when the skin starts peeling. And if it gets too uncomfortable, stay in and turn on the air conditioning. Peace (NOT war)!!!
I say 100% YES! Nature seems to know quite well what it is doing. One thing it never did do however (which might just be a bit of "food" for thought), is to bring us into this world with a set of "Clippers" so that we could "Buzz" our hair off. Think we were intended to be a species with Long Hair.
long or short I've found summer difficult because of the COLOR of my hair. Nobody wears black clothes in summertime, yet I wear a black covering on top of my head. Yet another reason to look forward to turning gray....
and am prone to "fainting spells," which start by my being too hot.
Therefore, I spend most of the summer with my hair in a ponytail. And I always have hair bands in the car so when it is down I can ponytail it while driving with the window down. It's hard to see the road with hair blowing in your face!
I overheat extremely easily, I mean this winter I was literally sitting in my room sweating one day (Texas winter so it's not extremely cold, but still!) hair makes it worse but hair or no hair I HATE summer. Maybe it's just b/c I'm in TX but I hear girls complaining all the time about having to have long hair during summer all the time too.
That's when you put your hair up. I personally simply braid my hair when I get hot, unless I'm in full sun. In that case, I leave it down so it can shade me.
Long hair is cooler in the summer cause you can put it back in a ponytail or braid and get it off your neck. Shorter haired people can't do that and the hair is always bugging them. With ladies especially, long hair is better in the summer.
Joy
Summer or the depth of winter I feel the cold in about 1 percent of the days in a year. In the winter I just walk faster to keep warm and in the summer I just stay inside because I burn too easily. It is true though that keeping your hair down can act as a sunshade to stop the sun getting in your eyes or burning your face. I personally keep my hair in a ponytail all of the time unless it's the winter and I am in bed.
