I have had long hair for a number of years. Going it alone all the way.
I have hair prone to frizz. I am unable to wear it loose as it goes way out of control.
I do not use conditioner because this makes it worse and I do not blow dry because this increases the volume like nobodies business. Any suggestions?
I always seem to be looking for the perfect hair tie. I have recently taken to using two or three of the very thin ones but they seem to pull my hair tight or not at all depending how tight they are. some tips in this area would be cool as well.
The highlander was always my role model when I was growing my hair...hehehe
Scrunchie has a fatter hair tie that I think works better. It gets tangled less and if you have frizzy hair then I imagine that it would be easy to get it bound up trying to remove a thin hair tie.
The first time I let my hair grow long it didn't look that good. Why? FRIZZ! And to make matters worse, I also had an undercut. I had it buzzed and kept it short for a couple years and then I gave it another try. My hair is longer now then it used to be and I don't have any frizz whatsoever. The key to my success? I NEVER brush my hair when it's dry. My hair is wavy/curly and in order to get the right look with my hairtype I only brush it after leaving in a conditioner for a while. I go very easy with a towel after washing it; I just gently squeeze the water out before applying a stay in conditioner and then I brush it to get rid of tangles. Once my hair is dry, a brush never touches my hair. As far as usint a dryer goes, I do NOT brush my hair when using a dryer.
I believe your hair tyoe is similar to mine It is quite cool to have these tips as I have discovered similar problems with the hairbrush when dry. what sort of leave in conditioner do you use. I have not tried one of these. Just recently I have started combing through moisturiser after washing.
Thank you.
Same as mine, hmmm? Curly/wavy, aka the worst kind of hair to have during the awkward phase ... I use Guhl shampoo, conditioner and leave in conditioner (it seems to work for me but I haven't seen it mentioned on this board) and I also use some sort of pomade (just a little bit!). With my kind of hair I want the individual hairs to stick together and they do that while they're wet, so it's ok to comb/brush while the hair is wet. Always keep in mind that you have to be VERY GENTLE while handling wet hair. If you comb curly/wavy hair, the individual hairs get seperated and BANG; it's time for disco fever! I still cringe when I see people brush dry curly hair and I get the urge to walk up to them and say: "Will you please stop doing that?". Aaargh!
