i mentioned to my sister, (in passing!!) that i was going to go buy a leave in conditioner because of my dry hair. She told me too just use regular conditioner watered down and use that as my leave in. She said its the exact same thing as a "real" leave in, its only clever marketing that makes us think they are quite different from one another. So should I find a conditioner i like, water it down and use that?? Or should I buy an "official" leave in? Anyone recommend any good ones?? Thanks in advance. Im gonna go eat sometbing.
I think your sister is incorrect. Certainly some of the ingredients are the same, but a simple check of the ingredient list will show that they are not the same. I've not sampled many leave in conditioners, so I can't really recommend one.
I use Aussie leave-in every so often. It has no build-up and smells really good.
Oh and I'm not trimming my split ends by the way. Heh. XD

I suggest you try a leave-in product and also try your sister's idea, and decide which seems to work better for your hair.
Your sis may be on to something. Now I'm not suggesting that all manufacturers sell watered down regular conditioner as a stay in version but it wouldn't surprise me if some of them did. A couple years ago someone discovered that a detergent (which I'll call product B since I can't recall the name) was a watered down version of product A (some common product) and on top of that product B was sold for a much higher price then product A so go figure.
Maybe some leave in conditioners are just watered down conditioner, but all the leave-ins I've tried are actually thicker than regular conditioner and don't feel the same.
A leave in conditioner that I've had a lot of good experiences with is the Herbal Glo brand. It's kind of expensive since it's entirely organic and natural, but it's worth the money considering that one spray bottle of it lasts a long time. I suggest you try it out. I've also had good experiences with Herbal Essences and Infusium 23. I DO NOT recommend you try any of the Marc Anthony Lite Leave-In conditioners though, they smell awful and don't detangle at all, they also dry very stiff. Anyway, good luck!
