What a great site! Can't believe I hadn't found it
before tonight. I'm in my mid 30s and I have wanted
to grow my hair for a long time. About six weeks ago
I finally decided that I didn't care what anybody
else said, especially my job, and I'm going for it.
It's my hair! Years ago I tried growing it and got
frustrated when it reached that in-between stage and
so I ended up cutting it. I'm not going to do that
this time. So any words of encouragement for a guy
who wants to experience the kind of long hair that
the rest of you already have? Thanks, the comments
I've read in other postings have been great.
Congratulations! A great decision. About a year ago, in my late 30's, I finally said the same 'It's my hair - I'm going to let it grow while I still have it!' I have felt a freedom that I never experienced before. It was like the real me was now being shown to the world. At times, I think about cutting it for the sake of the job - but I just hate to give in to the system! Anyway, my best to you, and similar encouragement to any of you other guys out there thinking about taking the plunge - go for it!
Our forefathers all paraded around in these long wigs and I am sure no one busted on Ben Franklin, George Washington, John Adams etc. It was custom then. Well, the more of us there is out there for everyone to see, maybe customs will change enough to make long hair the norm and not the exception. We are all exmples of a certaint style and for those who are envious maybe seeing a longhaired man would inspire a lot more to do the same! I encourage all who are thinking of it to try to let it grow and don't be discouraged because their are bad hair days as well as the good ones. Let's get these boards more active by posting your comments and stand up and be noticed!
Glad to hear other 30 somethings are letting their hair grow. I'm in my late 30s also and haven't gotten my hair cut for 9 months. It's messy right now, but I like it. I agree -- I'm going to let it grow while I still have it.
