I have thick and wavy hair and someone recently recommended that I use a Daily Clarifying shampoo. So, I tried using Suave Daily Clarifying shampoo which deep cleans and the daily clarifying conditioner but after using it for a few days my hair now feels a bit dry or something and not as manageable. Should I be using a "Daily Clarifying" shampoo or something else?
Any recommendations on brands and types?
Stay away from Suave. I know it's inexpensive, but it dries hair out. Try Aussie products at Wal-Mart. That is what I am going to try myself for the first time soon. Good Luck! Peace!
What is your reason for a clarifying shampoo? Does your hair have a coating or buildup that won't wash out otherwise? Unless you are using lots of heavy, waxy styling products or a heavy conditioner with waxes or silicone, it is unlikely you have buildup which needs clarifying on a daily basis. If you are using something which seems to coat and buildup on your hair and doesn't wash out with a good rinse, or a gentle shampoo, you might want to change products rather than frequent use of a clarifying shampoo. Clarifying shampoos are often rather harsh and can "strip" the hair of natural oils and lubrication.
First of all, don't blindly follow everybody's advice when it comes to hair care. THINK first and do some searching before taking the plunge. These are the same well meaning folks who'd recommend a weekly haircut to speed growth. It's NOT recommended to shampoo your hair every day, let alone with industrial strength paint remover (oops, the folks from Suave are going to sue me now ...). Use good quality products (shampoo, conditioner, stay-in conditioner, pomade/oil) and shampoo your hair sparingly.
