I came across and interesting discussion here:
http://www.shoujoai.com/forum/topic_show.pl?tid=6172
It's about why some people associate long hair with femininity.
We don't.
"It traces back to ancient Rome and Greece. Men wore their hair
short, but I can't remember exactly why. I think it was a military
thing."
"The long hair=female thing pisses me off though. I'm a male and have
long hair and am constantly being mistaken for a female when I
leave the house, even with my hair in a ponytail. Maybe I should
grow a beard."
LoL
This is outdated thinking (As old as the hills)!!! We live in the 21st century. Times have changed--women are cuting their hair short, does that mean they (women) are masculine? We give boys names to girls and girls names to boys, don't we (I know are a guy whose first name is Lynn)? Guys are wearing earings and necklaces. Why haven't the same people who consider long hair=feminine create a big stink about this being feminine? To anybody who still thinks this way, I say, "Get a life and get with the times!!!"
"Are"? Men have been wearing earings and necklaces for centuries!
As I've said before:-
Q: is it effeminate for men to have long hair?
A: No more so than being clean-shaven. I'm not in the least sexist or anti-gay,but we all have one or two little prejudices, I guess:
Men wearing pink shirts....aaaarrrghh!!! Ooops, sorry!!
Nothing wrong with that I suppose, but I'd never do it myself.
cheers, Barry.
