Recently, I made a trip to Keene,New Hampshire via Brattleboro,Vermont. As I drove through these two small New England cities, I was amazed by the number of longhaired men that I saw. Some were your typical metalheads and bikers, but to my delight, several were dressed in suits(hopefully they were professionals as I surmised and NOT on their way to a court date), shop owners, workers at small industries etc. I stopped at a coffee shop and their were out of the 12 men in there, 10 with ponytails or long loose flowing locks!!!! I was psyched! Maybe these two little towns that straddle the Connecticut river in central New England foreshadow the new trend to come that long hair wll be much more acceptable. Have any of you out there also been through towns or cities that have seen an upturn in hair growth where is seems to be an acceptable and common practice? Let's share our experience.
Santa Cruz, Calif. is like that...lots of longhairs old and young alike. It's nice to visit there (for the nude beaches, redwood forest hikes, and general good atmosphere), and nobody asks me if I'm in a band the way they do in L.A. ;)
I don't live far from Santa Cruz and I go there often. (I was there today, in fact, Oct. 3, 1998.) While I wouldn't say "lots" of longhairs, there are certainly more than elsewhere. There are several regulars that I see there whom I really think are very attractive with their long, beautiful hair. Mmmmmm...

I can say the Same for Asheville, NC. There are many long haired men of all social categories. It seems to be a non issue.
You should check out Maryland...particularly the suburbs...men of all ages have flowing locks everywhere...shopowners, lawyers, doctors, etc. Lots seem to have hair layered short on top, but long flowing ponytails and free flowing down their backs...hot!
