Where in the Calif. Bay Area
(south bay in particular)
can a gay man regularly meet
other long-haired gay men?
A regular social group would be great!
Guys who are sharp, love to read,
are verbal, witty, etc?
Guys who like swimming, hiking, sports,
staying in shape?
Guys who are NOT all software engineers (like me)!
Guys who like the arts, perhaps
even participating -- in theatre,
playing music? the visual arts?
Count me in!
If you guys get something going, let me know. I used to live in
the Bay Area (10 yrs), and visit from time to time. The cultural
vitality and special interest possibilities make me want to move back soon! Perhaps designating someplace in Berkeley would have good results (The Pacific Center on Telegraph Ave has men's rap groups on
Monday evenings -- could help get the word out on starting something.)
Anyone know where the info on hair ties a la "as worn by the Highlander!" can be located? Saw them advertised on a site once
by its manufacturer (seemed to cost less than $10 and had nice
Celtic designs, tho' you apprently have to position the design on
a ponytail band.) I'd like to mail order (I don't give my
credit card on the web), but can't find it.
Any other ideas for good things without metal attachments to damage
your hair for providing a little decoration with a masculine touch?

The ties you speak of are shown above. Last information I had, was that the Highlander Store can be reached at 1-800-217-1748. I don't think they have a web site anymore. Highlander has recently gone out of production. [What a pity since shows that feature longhairs in a leading role or in a positive light on TV are few and far between. :-( ] So who knows how long the ties will still be available, or the store will exist. A spinoff with a female star is now on the air, so maybe the Highlander Store will be around for a while selling things to its fans.
The other night I was looking at the newsgroup alt.tv.highlander. There are almost always gripes on there about the service people get out of the Highlander Store (I mean, a lot of folks on that newsgroup buy stuff there), but there seemed to be more gripes than usual this time. At nine bucks a pop, you don't have much to lose, though, so you might as well go for it, since the ties are great!
You won't need to install an elastic tie on the jewelry, by the way. As the photo above shows, each one comes with a black band attached.
The website appears to still be online at
http://ms.digitalboardwalk.com/shopping/highland/store/jewelry/duncans_private_collection/leaf/product1.html
Cool! So they've got a web site again. If it was like the old one, it was farmed out to someone else, and it was much quicker to order stuff off the phone. The old site maintainer apparently printed out orders he got off the web and mailed them to the store. That added a week to the order's being processed.
I can't enter this link. I need a username and a password.
Who can help me?

Just go to the Official Site for Highlander the series and look for the store. Almost all current series have an official site that sells their merchandise.

hey there BOYS!
I love guys who are hairy.. long hair turns me on no matter where it is on the body... E-mail me : phonephantom@hotmail.com
I'm looking forward to it!!!!
A group like this would be totally cool. I am a long haired gay man living in the Santa
Cruz Mountains, and working (I am a geologist just out of grad school) in Los Gatos.
Meeting other long haired gay men can be difficult, I often feel out of place in many
traditional gay settings. One place that I do frequent that has a mixed gay straight and bi
energy is called Dance Planet on Friday nights in Santa Cruz. They play world beat
music and what ever Dead Can Dance is classified as. There are usually a few long
haired gay boys there.

I would suggest connecting with the Radical Faeries. They have an e-mail list which often includes references to local events all over the country. I'm sure I've seen mention of gatherings in the Bay Area, though I'm not so fortunate as to be there myself.
If the URL attached doesn't work for any reason, look up "faerie" on www.liszt.com
