I'm looking to see if anyone out there knows anything about this. I have very thick wavy hair and like the way it looks and feels when it's straight. Whenever I go in for a cut, I have it flat ironed straight and my hair stylist was telling me about this new straightening system that is suposed to be much better than the other types out there.
Hi,
They should be referring to the Yuko Thermal Reconditioning System. My advice is do a thorough research on this process, get a complete understanding of it, and its side effects (if not done properly), before you go for it. As it can be very damaging if not done properly (I've seen people loosing nearly the entire head of hair, no joke).
Cheers,
Jin
all i know is that in japan, a customer spends about 12 hours in the salon, and its 700 hundred dollars, and it last about a month or so. I could be misinformed about the period the straightening lasts though. Geez, doesn't sound that great to me.
From the knowledge I gathered from my friends (who had done this) and some hairdressers, Thermal Reconditioning (TR), if done properly, lasts permanently for THAT PORTION of hair straightened. Just that, due to new growth (which takes after your original hair texture and shape), would "dampen" the straightened effect after about 10 months or so. That is why, many people go for a "touch up" a year or so after the first TR done, to eliminate the ugly "transition zone" (between straight and curly hair) which appears after some time.
But this, of course, puts your hair to further stress. Therefore, to conclude, you must be very sure that you are prepared (and willing) to go through a "continuous" process of straightening and re-straightening once you start TR. Unless, of course, you do not mind the obvious "transition zone" appearing in your hair, 6 months after TR :)
Hope this answers some questions.
Cheers,
Jin
Hi,
My name is MIchelle and im am wondering about gettin my hair straightened but im very afraid because i do not want to do it and have side effects like losing my hair afterwards. What should i do .. i hope you will conntect me soon.
The Japanese people are born with pin straight hair. Thus you can assume they would not need a hair straightening system. Muck like an eskimo would not need a refrigeration system.
This is not completely true. For our western eyes their hair is super-straight, but some japaneses actually don't have 100% straight hair, and girls there usually hate this. Hence they invented this system...
Some more info on the process for those who want to try: you cannot have bleached hair; also you may have to do a deep-conditioning treatment before straghtening depending on how healty your hair is; and don't use the german products to do it, which are cheaper than the japanese but I've heard some bad things about them.
I've seen some recent before and after pics of people on other long hair forums...all with incredible results! You'll pay about $500 for good results.
I had it done last August and it was the best investment I made on my hair!!! Nine months later I'm getting it done again for the summer. Highly recommend it!!!

Hi. Go to beautywalk.com and then to the salon message board. I have been reading the board for over 8 months now because I am conptemplating getting my hair done (Thermal Reconditiong/Japanese Straightening). There are a ton of women on the board and you can get ALL of your questions answered accurately there.

Hi. I am 13 years old. I used to have beautiful, blonde, straight hair.. but then i got into a habbit of pullng out my hair. Now, my hair grew in a dark, dark blonde color, and it's curly! I am going to get the Japanese straightening done to fix this problem, but i have a question; When i get out of the shower, (once i get this treatment done) will I still have to blowdry my hair or even use the straightener? Will it be straight when i get outof the shower so I don't have to do anything with it? Thanks.
Meg.
Anyone know of any sites with pictures of what this, "transition" stage looks like?
