I've been reading here how some of you guys suffer from oily hair if you leave it to long before shampooing, having always had my hair very short i haven't until now known what type of hair i have, I'm now well into my forth month of growth since my last buzz and i'm still able to style it to look quite tidy, i dampen my hair in the morning an use american pomade to style it, and it works great but... if i wash my hair and leave it to dry naturally it just goes *POOF* and sits on my head like a fuzz ball.!!! it also feels quite dry and coarse.
I have used several differnet shampoo's and conditioners and am currently using aussie moist,i have also tried different shampooing routines, at the moment i haven't washed my hair (except rinsing) for 5 days and still no sign of any softening or oily hair. When my hair is damp it's great i can style it anyway i like but as soon as it's dry if i touch it, then POOF again :) I'm now starting to think that my hair type just isn't one that should be grown long :( and also soon i will be getting a new bike for the summer and i just can't imagine dealing with a fuzzball everytime i removed my helmet.!!!
Anyone have or had this problem before and can share some help i would be most greatfull as i'm now contemplating having it buzzed again which i don't want to do :(
Cheers
Grale :¬)
Have you tried to use some leave-in conditioner?
Had the same problems in my first months, but "L'Oreal Elvital" helped a lot.
No i haven't tried leave in conditioners yet, but i will buy some tommorow and try it for sure.
How often do you wash and condition your hair.? as leaving my hair unwashed doesn't seeem to help the problem.!
Thanks.
Once or twice a week.
I use Nexus Therrappe shampoo. It's kind of expensive, but leaves some oils in the hair so it's heavier. It's also great for avoiding split ends if you have really long hair.
Also, if you have straight hair, you might try using very little shampoo to wash your hair and let it get oily. It's cheaper than buying hair stuff, and actually looks pretty good, in a sleazy way.
BTW I am new here and like the board. I've had long hair since around 1990 or so, during the grunge days, lol. It's shoulder length now.
Don't worry about the dryness. Whilst you would imagine that it would be a big problem with longhair, it isn't. It's only really a problem when you're in the awkward stage. When you get to shoulder length, the weight of the hair alleviates much of the dryness/friz.
