As a big fan of wrestling for years i was interested to read some of the posts on this board about the wwe and the McMahon's not liking long hair on men too much. It got me thinking about the number of wrestlers who got their hair cut the last few years. Test,Chuck Palumbo, Billy Gunn,Val Venis/Chief Morley and Mick Foley to name a few. Could someone please shed more light onto why the wwe seems to hate long hair so much? There is only edge and christian with really long hair anymore.
Long hair to the WWE is just a trend.
Trends go with time, whereas we here, we love our hair for hair`s sake, not for trends or because of the WWE.
The WWE is just "entertainment" and in entertainment there is no sincerity, just the desire to achieve more fame and more money, that`s all.
Well basically Triple H doesn't like the idea of other people looking like him. That's why Test and Nova have had to cut their hair despite a protest. Christian managed to get away with it somehow.
christian have had cut his hair, too. but not so much, as other wrestler.
Is it that the McMahons's don't like long hair or
could it be that they want short hair
to "sell" wrestling to the 18-25 maile demographics?
There was a time when wrestling held the top positions in
TV ratings. Those days are now gone, could
short hair be one of the methods McMahon & Co. are using
to regain ratings?
I used to follow wrestling years ago when lots
of them had long hair and they had story lines that
held my interest. Now there is nothing to hold
my interest, no long hair, no interesting story lines,
no interesting wrestlers.
I even heard an evil rumor that the Undertaker got a
haircut.
That happened years ago.
As far as I know, Mick Foley (Manking/Cactus Jack/Dude Love) did away with his hair in a decision of his own; I remember seeing him coming on television with a buzzed head AFTER he'd wrestled his last match and was only there to do a few final promos. There wouldn't have been much sense for McMahon, as foolish as he can be, to have Foley loose his hair just before he retired, especially considering how much he (Foley) sacrificed his body for some of the most brutal matches in the history of wrestling (If you could even call Hell in a Cell an actual match, since so much of it was real).
If I was a wrestler, I too would keep my hair very short. It's more practical for combat. Being highly involved in Martial Arts, my hair always manages to get in my face, no matter how I restrain it. Each moment I have to move a strand from my eyes is a potential hazard for attack. Even when play fighting a child, I've been hit square in the nuts while moving my bangs from my eyes!
