Hey
the back of my hair pretty much touches my shoulders now and the front goes 1/4 way down my neck, i feel like i need a trim to make it a bit less thick as i dont want it any longer then this, not at the moment anyway. I was thinking of cutting it myself or getting one of my friends to as i dont like barbers/hairdressers, sheerly for the insults i get when i go, has anyone else cut their hair themsevles or got a non professional to cut it? any tips, experiances?

Make sure it's a friend that you trust. My friend's sister was shaving my friend's head. He wanted just a #4 guard all around, but she was doing the nape of his neck with a #1, she stopped paying attention and went all the way up his head with it, I said "What are you doing?" "OOPS!"
She had to go back all over with a #1, once your friend messes up, it's messed up for good :)
