It's official, Aussie has changed its formula. Of course the old formula listed water and sodium lauryl sulfate as the first two ingredients. The new formula has water and ammonium laureth sulfate as the first two ingredients.
Will this stop anyone from using the product? I haven't used the "new formula" shampoo or conditioner yet, but as soon as I run out of the aussie "moist" that I have now I will give the new formula a try. I really like Aussie products. I like the smell, I like the clean feeling I get after I shampoo and condition, and I like the way my hair feels and behaves after it dries. I just hope that the new ingredients don't change the way the product works.
From what I remember about detergents used in shampoo, ammonium lauryl sulfate is the harshest, followed by ammonium laureth sulfate, sodium lauryl sulfate, and sodium laureth sulfate being the mildest. Also, I dont think the laurETH sulfates can penetrate the hair making them less damaging. I have not tried the new formula yet so it will be interesting to see if it really makes a difference. I wonder why Aussie changed it, anyway? To save money, perhaps
by the Aussie MOIST CONDITIONER!
Without that conditioner, my hair would tangle and be
much less easy to manage.
Well, I guess when I get paid this week I'll be buying any of the "old" aussie shampoo I can find. Once that's gone, I'll probably replace it with another shampoo without the ammonium.
I've already been using the Infusium 23 shampoos and like them. I always have a few different shampoos (and conditioners) on hand. One day I prefer one scent, the next day another.
I spend quite a bit of time choosing shampoos and conditioners. I check ingredients first, then narrow my selections by scent. When it's time to buy shampoo and/or conditioner, I can expect a half hour to an hour to be spent just to find a few bottles of what I need.
I've been using the 'new formula' Mega product for a week, I've
been an Aussie customer since I stopped hair cuts (one year exactly
May 23, by the way).
Haven't noticed any big difference in the results.
I use the smooth and sleek conditoner, silicone or whatever, who cares, it makes my hair better than even 10 dollar salon brand condtioners. However the silicone isnt as bad as ammonium on shampoos. Only cheap brands have them.
