Hi. I am 22 and just about to finish university degree (physics). So in a few weeks I will have to start looking for a job. As I am a first time hair grower and having never had a formal interview before I do not know the etiquet on how to present ones hair. It is not particularly long (6 inchs) so I cannot relly wear a ponytail. I live in the UK so does anyone know of any prejudices employers may hold against me. Being a physics graduate, I would be looking for work on computers in office or research labs etc. Anyone in similar lines of work, are you allowed long hair and did you have it at the interview? I was thinking that making sure my hair's clean and well combed (and maybe push the sides behind the ears) would be enough. Thanks for any help.
Try gelling it, worked for me.
if it was you, but there was a guy who slicked back his hair until it was ponytail length. It looks really good and professional that way. That would be a good look for an interview.
There's a lot of computer jobs where long hair is very accepted. Some employers may be prejudiced, others will not be.
Most important thing is to impress them with your ability.

For the most part, I wouldn't worry too much. Providing you are clean and presentable, hair length isn't generally an issue. As Baldie says, some may have prejudices, but they are likely to be in the minority.
