I have wavy hair and am growing it long and so far it looks the bomb, but my firend has straing long hair and he looks gay. Whats everyone else's opinion
What do you mean by looking "gay." I am very good friends with a few gay males and have on occasion been to gay clubs in the States and in Europe over the years. I would say 90% of the gay males I have seen and hung out with all have short hair. In fact, I have only seen a couple of males on the gay scene with long hair.
Do you mean perhaps that your friend looks more feminine with long hair? I don't think this has to do with whether your hair is straight or wavy but more on facial features. I know a couple of males who have very long straight hair and they have no facial hair, but they are beyond a doubt very masculine when you look at them.

I agree with Chaeya. Long hair carries no sex message at all. You can trim "male" or "female" into your hair with scissors (by trimming in certain styles), but if you let your hair grow naturally and don't do much to it, men's and women's hair pretty much looks alike.
What all this means is that, as a longhair, you have to count on stuff other than the hair on your head to tell your sex. Body shape, clothing, and facial hair are the main things most people use instead of head hair anyway, but if a guy is a bit ambiguous in those areas, he might have been counting on his hair style to do the job before growing his hair out. Afterward, if he doesn't want to look androgynous, he has to learn to use the other stuff.
I suspect X-Pac, without sex-relevant hair data to rely on, was reading other characteristics of the men in question to determine masculinity or femininity, and then subconsciously attributing it to their hair. A masculinity reading, though, has little to do with one's sexual orientation, because how "male" a guy looks and what he's attracted to are not much related. And the amount of waviness or curliness of his hair is not related at all. ;-)
How ironic if wavy hair makes you look straight and straight hair makes you look gay.
I think long hair looks good. If he had short hair, I think he would look somber instead of gay.
