Hi all. Just been to the library and picked up a booked called the classic 1000 dreams. It gives interpretations of dreams by, quote some of the most celebrated writers on the subject. Most of it seems little more than old wives tales but has at least some entertainment value I thought some may be interested. Sweet Dreams!
If you imagine you see a strange woman with long and beautiful hair, it is a very good as it denotes friendship, joy and prosperity. If a man dreams his hair is long like a womans, that signifies cowardice and effeminacy, and that he will be deceived by a woman. To see a woman without hair signifies famine, poverty and sickness. To a see a bald man signifies the opposite.
To see plaited hair signifies annoyance and grief, and sometimes injuries and quarrels. To see black hair, short and curled signifies sadness and loss. To see well combed hair signifies friendship. To loose your hair signifies annoyance and loss of money. If your hair seems to be longer and blacker that usual, your wealth and reputation will increase. If anyone dreams that their hair has grown thinner than it was before, it is a sign of affliction and poverty. If you dream you perfume your hair that signifies vanity and conceit. If a woman dreams this, she will deceive her husband, and wear the trousers at home. If you dream your hair is permed, it signifies that you are in some danger either from sickness or injury.
To dream you have long tidy hair is good for a woman, but if the hair is untidy, it indicates anger and sullenness. To have a head of beautiful hair is good; and to be bald is bad. To dream you have a tick beard and some boys pull it off shows you must take care against danger.
To dream that your hair is long is good; if it is untidy, long and brittle it shows disturbance and trouble. To dream a man has no hair on his face is shamefacedness. If a seaman dreams his head is shaven, he is in danger of being shipwrecked.
Dreams and Moles
Sounds like the writer(s) had a fanciful imagaination and lots of time on their hands.
The real intersting part is how the writers are merely reflecting common social stereotypes of their particular time and place in the world.
So a bald man represents bountiful harvest, wealth and health and long hair on men is cowardice and effeminacy? Balderdash!
An outdated book of garbage.
Apart from Dreams are for fools, i agree.
In the context of this book these dreams ARE for fools. One would be very foolish to believe them.
Dreams are from the mind entertaining itself while we sleep, often influenced by what is going on in your life or what happened to you that day or what you watched on television before you went to bed (my favorite).
If you are speaking of dreams representing your goals and hopes for the future then of course those are not just for fools unless the goals are completely ridiculous but then they are also not the sleep related dreams that the book seemed to base itself on either.
if THAT book was even half true...LoL
If a man dreams his hair is long like a womans, that signifies cowardice and effeminacy, and that he will be deceived by a woman.
That bit made me laugh. I believe dreams can be a good path to self-integration, but that extract doesn't do much for me.
Dreams should be interpreted based on the individual's life circumstances. They are really reflections of yourself and not necessarily of your culture.
Hi - here's the rest:
To dream you plait or curl your hair is only good for a woman; to others it signifies debt and impeachment for money and sometimes imprisonment. If you dream you have fair long hair, and you seem to take a pride in it, it is a good sign to a woman or a man who normally wears his hair long. To dream you have wool instead of long hair foretells of a long sickness.
To comb is to profit in every pursuit;
But should it fall off friends are hollow at root,
If ever grown long and pendant oer shoulders,
Youll please all friends and astonish beholders

I have that dream a lot (i'm sure y'all heard it) where i dream i cut my hair but wake (happily) to find i have not - I hate that one!
Well, the one with the REAL DREAM (author) was most probably "Dreaming" of the $$$$$$ he would rake-in on this one. (Publisher also.) The sad thing is that tons of people believe anything if it is IN PRINT.
