OK, here's the deal. Ive been growing my hair for about 3 months(August13-November21) now and its getting longer but the only problem is the back of my hair is soooo bushy. All my friends say I should cut and get an instyle haircut. One of my friends with shoulder length hair says that all men go through that when growing long hair. I believe him but I just cant stand this bushy awckward hair on my neck area. And to top it off its really getting hair to manage my thick dry hair. My friend says I should get a "Tape Up" style haircut, if anyone is not familiar with that its a new style haircut that most rap stars get. The thing is that Im afraid of messing it up and just throwing away those three looong months. What should I do? Let my hair run its natural course. Should I just trim the back area? Right now I just trim my sideburns. Need advice, a lotta pressure to cut my hair but dont wanna do something Im gonna regret!
grow your hair however long you want to. anyone who judges you because of hair length is no friend. 3 months of growth is about 1½ or 2 inches on average... when you say 'bushy' do you mean curly? if the back annoys you after just three months, just wait 'till the top reaches your eyes and ears- that's when hair can be a real pain. you're going to find out just how badly you really want to grow your hair. good luck.
HI,
When your hair is longer it will be easy to pull back and tie. The inbetween time is hardest. Find the best hairstylist you can and share with him / her your goal. Trim if necessary but do not cut, and do not chop. Spend a little money getting regular styling. Soon you'll be through the difficult time.

I suggest you find a stylist who's sympathetic to letting you grow
your hair out. The stylist should be able to help you grow your hair
out while reducing the awkward bushiness.
I have a male friend who I think has the kind of busy hair you're describing. What he does is after he washes it, he uses Infusium 23 leave in treatment and he braids it in one thick long braid down his back and let's it dry like that. The times he does where it loose, it looks pretty neat and have ringlets. His hair is very, very curly like my hair and our hair can be bushy too, but I'm not sure what you mean by bushy as there are different degrees of it. I have another friend who has very bushy hair, but her hair looks like it's in an afro. My hair will get like an afro if after it dries I comb it out. Find a good stylist and ask them to recommend some good anti-frizz products. I use Infusium because my budget doesn't allow for $80 hair products and it works for me just fine, plus I no longer blow dry my hair. Good fortune.
