Here goes.....
It is well known that we (men and women) each have between 100,000 to 150,000 strands of hair on our heads.
Now, given that each hair averages 1/2 inch of growth per month....that equates to about 0.4 mm of growth per day.
Multiply that by 100,000 hairs gives us 42,000 mm of total hair growth per day!!!
That's 42 metres per day! That's 1260 metres per month or 1.26 kilometres per month.
Just thought I'd share that with everyone.....sure doesn't feel like that much. Has anyone calculated that before?
Cheers,

cool idea :)
that's about 139 feet of growth per day! WOW!
There must be something wrong with those figures...
I mean, just look in the mirror today...right now...and tell me
do you see 42 METRES of HAIR???*
*Although it sometimes SEEMS like there is!
Actually the figures sound right to me.... But I guess you can hardly see the 42 metres since it's all layered.
the figures are probably correct but...
42 metres per DAY x 365 DAYS = 15,330 METRES per year? Whew!
with 100,000 hairs on your head, that's 0.153 meters per hair (per year)
it's about a half an inch a month, so hair can grow up to 6 inches in a year.
