I have a Jeep Wrangler w/soft top ... last summer there was no problem as I had very short hair ... now it has been almost a year since my last hair cut and driving with the top off is a hassle and no longer enjoyable for me. Wearing a hat is annoying as I have to be careful it does not blow off ... and without the hat my hair is blowing in my eyes and a mess.
Any suggestions?
Cutting my hair is NOT an option as I made that mistake over a year ago. I guess my hair is more important to me than the jeep is so I may be looking at trading it in for a hard top model or a car. (And I just got it paid for!)
I've got a convertible SAAB 900 turbo, and thought I"d have problems with my hair blowing, but haven't really. I guess it's the way the wind blows around the vehicle. I've seen some longhairs around here wear a baseball cap turned around backwords while they are in their jeeps or other ragtops. I have not needed to resort to this however.

I have a '99 Trans Am with T-tops. When I'm on my way to work or somewhere that requires my hair to be neat I have to leave the tops on and the windows up, otherwise my hair is a mess, and wearing a hat screws it up, too. I don't really have a suggestion besides perhaps a bandana, but I'm just saying I know how you feel. :) Good luck with it!
Nice F-Body,
Anyway I am more of a G-Body person, I have an 88 Dodge Daytona Shelby Z with T-Tops myself. I find that if I don't wear a hat and drive with the tops off, the air curents cause my hair to blow into my face, poking my eyes and being a hazard, (and tangled mess). So what I do, is ponytail my hair, about mid back, and put it up under a knit ski cap, works great!
I'll try posting this once more! before deciding the board's "quality control" mechanism doesn't like me.
I tie my hair up and have no problem. There's a way of tying it up so that the long part is completely under control. I still get pelted by the hairs too short to tie. I love my Wrangler!
My dad has a cherokee.
Yes, I've had my Wrangler a month, and my long hair longer.
I don't have a problem; I keep my hair tied up. I also wear a hat sometimes that doesn't easily blow off.
Well I just drove my wife's Jeep Wrangler X in to work with the top off and it felt great! I put a head band on and my hair was not all that bad. I did get some knots, but spent 30 minutes taking them out with my fingers. I will probably wear my Gilligans hat next time and I will see what happens.
