Hi ALL!
I started growing my hair back in December 2002. Its been slow and i seem stuck in the frizz/rug/mess stage.
Ive seen all the pics on this site and i have to say im impressed. Ill try and post my own next week so i can start this progress thing.
Anyway- my issue....
I've read, in scientific journals, that washing your hair damages it by removing natural oils and forcing you to wash it often. So i have been trying an experiment. I still wash, with soap, if my hair gets dirty. But i never shampoo or condition my hair. It seems healthy enough. Has anyone else had any good/bad expriences with this? is it true/ untrue? if you think i should use hair product- what? i have dark wavy/curly hair, fairly thick.
Thanks.
Neil.
Everything I've ever read about washing hair has encouraged the reader to do so with the water as cool as possible. Only warm/hot water strips the oils. Colder water leaves the hair cuticle closed, thereby keeping the oils trapped.
I have heard this as well and when you think about nature--the only avaliable water is either cool or warm. It makes logical sense to me.
You will need to condition your hair, after every wash, it's good for it.
Don't use regular soap, it is much harsher than shampoo.
