Sadly enough, it's true. While approaching my first ever one-year mark, I finally caved in to all the pressure my parents have been putting on me lately. I betrayed my hair, and the promises I had made to myself. I . . . used gel.
OH THE HUMANITY!
Okay, maybe it wasn't that bad. But I have been getting a lot of heat from my mom lately about how poofy my hair is, and it's been especially hot and humid lately. (In July. Go figure.) And at work today, the boss had me hauling around a bunch of cases of soda, and sweating a whole bunch. So pretty much, there was no controlling my hair. So on my break I went home, and pretty much plastered my hair down w/ gel, and tied a little ponytail in the back. I knew it was gonna cause a little stir when I got back to work, but I never knew I was that self-concious about everyone staring at me. I guess it was just because there was really no reason to keep looking. But look they did. Not all bad looks, although one particularly uptight woman I work with was staring at me like half of my ear had just fallen off. After everyone had gotten over the fact that I was trying something new, I got a lot of good responses. And one of the older women had everyone agreeing that I looked like Antonio Banderas.
All in all, it wasn't such a bad experience. I guess it'll just take me a little while to get used to wearing gel again. At least for about 6 more months, 'til I can get a real tail going.

Using gel on your hair is NO crime, your hair can't get any harm if it has no alcohol and you use it moderately. Give yourself a break, I though you chopped it off.

Dude - you are a really good writer. Great story, especially the way you've told it.
Its funny, although people noticed, they probably didn't speand that much time thinking about it. Most of us are too concerned about how we're viewed by others!
Ive started wearing gel outside too.. well a serum thing but it is basically gel... anything that helps keep it looking good is worth doing!
