I will go first...
Since my hair started growing out, I had only ONE GOAL...
in mind: Get it into a TAIL!
O, yes, I like the FEEL of it against my neck and upper back.
*Always thought it would feel itchy...it doesn't!
*Thought it might tickle...ummmmm...NO it does not!
But even with ALL those nice feelings, etc., I still wanted to TAIL IT!
OK, so now I have a tail (and the front hairs are almost reaching that tail)...
To be honest, I like it in a tail...and I NEVER go out into the public without
putting it into a tail.
PEOPLE look at it...want to touch it...you can see their minds
drifting off into a Fantasy World or sorts, WONDERING maybe WHY...
I have long hair...thinking thoughts about me that are probably totally UNtrue! But I'm getting used to that.
In fact, I like the attention!
ENOUGH about me...
SO, how do YOU plan on wearing YOUR HAIR ...
MOST of the time?
I think I may go 50/50 between wearing my hair down and wearing it in a low tail.
*nods to Milkman* yah. Low tail, mostly loose. 50/50. Can't wait! *stares at calender!* Come on Sept 2004!!!
Hi Evil Milkman - I can't help imagining you with a 'bunch' on one side and loose hair on the other!! Sorry!! lol!!
bye, Barry
At home I wear it down most of the time, and usually tucked behind my ears. I ALWAYS wear it in a tail when I go out. And usually I wear a hat along with it. I think I've only been out in public with my hair down one time. I feel very uncomfortable with it down in public.
Hi!
My hair is now shoulder-length, but I feel the opposite to Gibson Guy - I do wear it in a tail at home, or when I'm cycling, working on the car etc., but around town I always have it down. Going out with a tail for the first time is a hurdle. It's like a change of gear - one's become a longhair, one's comfortable with it, etc etc, only to start over again as a 'short-tail'!!! One has become a 'junior' among the pony-tails, male or female. But I'll take the plunge soon, maybe at work to start with.
Cheers, Barry
I wear it down most of the time. I will tail it when working around the house. But I perfer to let it be free from bondage.
Back in the '90s when I sproted long hair, I ALWAYS had it in a tail, except when I slept. One day, a grandma type of lady asks me why I have this long hair but keep it all tied up. I thought it was a pretty good question, but couldn't offer much of an answer. I cut
my hair later that year and my life took a different path.
Growing it again now, and I almost never have it in a pony tail any more. I used to think all I wanted was a tail, but have since changed my mind. I get more looks with it down in 1 week than I got in three years in a tail. So far, nothing but positive comments.
So, now, if a longhair REALLY wants to be different, he just wears it down.

. . .skinheads & buzzcut types.
Of course, THAT isn't very fair of me...but I canNOT help
but think what THEY might be thinking.
Sometimes I imagine THEY are the ones who are truly uncomfortable...
I see them look away or PRETEND I am INVISIBLE or something...
.This is not my imagination. . .NOT my imagination, I say...

When I first came to the States from England I was freaked out by seeing so many crew-cuts. I behaved as I would have done in England, that is not by doing anything per se, but by checking out the positions of all the exits and planning my escape route, until I figured out that they were harmless. Now even in England a crew-cut doesn't mean much anymore, but at that time it meant only a violent skinhead and I think most people found it scary, not just us.
i wear it down most of the time, i like the ponytail but it becomes uncomftable when i leave it like that too long
i usually only have it tied back when i'm working out or during martial-arts training
a ponytail is fine but one of the main reasons i let it grow is because i wanted free flowing hair, plus women seem to love it more like thas
Ultimately loose whenever possible. In the short term I'm looking forward to being able to put it ALL a tail so I will at least have that option.
Most of the time, on my head, :-)
I love the feel of it loose, and after all this growing time I -want-
it untied. But my hair being "fine" texture it gets rather
stringy after a while so I usually have it loose after the daily
wash then tie it back for the afternoon.
I ave worn my hair in a tail every day for at least part of the day for nine years because I like it that way - it doesn't get tangled, and I feel that it looks a lot better with hair like mine which has always looked untidy.
Once mine is at the length I like it (just below shoulder length, all the same length), I tend to wear it down all of the time. The only time I keep it up is if I haven't washed it (missed a shower that day) or am working on a car or in the garage. During the summer time also, I tend to leave it up because my neck gets pretty hot.
Eventually, I want mine to be this length in 2 to 3 years or so:
For me, it's about 80% of the time in a high tail. Just is more comfortable that way, and, looks better, IMO. Sometimes, I will wear it loose, but, usually when it's cooler out, when I'm leaving my car's windows up when driving around.
