Hello.
I have always wanted to grow my hair out but have been discouraged by family or employers at all times. Finally I am getting the nice long mane I have always wanted but at times the ends get a little crazy and curly. Sometimes they point in odd directios and other times lay normally. I was wondering if I should use a straightening iron or perm to calm the storm. It will lay nicely if I let it dry tied with rubber bands or skip the shampoo during showers. any suggestions?
Speaking as someone who had hair that wanted to 'do its own thing' and go into ALL directions...
I can sympathize with what you are going through.
Have never used perms or straightening irons to 'calm the storm' but
usually when your hair gets LONGer, the weight will help pull down
and relax those curls a bit. Hair cannot fight off the effects of gravity forever...
sooner or later, gravity sort of wins!
Maybe others will have good advice for you in the meantime.
I use gels as needed.
Good Luck!
I hear you, friend. Unfortunately, I'm not sure what I can offer in the way of advice. If my hair gets exceptionally bunched up in tight curls to the point that it bothers me (not just in terms of how it looks, but how it chafes the back of my neck), I tie it into the back of my bandana, keeping it bunched up at the back underneath the cloth (Kind of like a hair bun, but concealed).
Please don't EVER use rubber bands on your hair as the tension is too great, the texture of the bands is too harsh and you can wind up ripping out your hair.
Always try to use 'proper' bought ponytailers (preferably ones without a mental join them). They only cost a few pence/cents each.
Good luck !
a METAL join IN them. :-)
