Like 4 or 5 months ago, I stopped trimming my sideburns and goatee. It's an experiment. So far, lots of people have told me they think it looks good. Here are some pics taken a day or so ago:
The individual hairs of the 'burns are about 3 inches long. Based on peoples' positive reactions, I'm going to let both the 'burns and goatee continue to grow. The current plan is to let them both grow extremely long, as in measured in feet.

It looks really nice! Good luck on the continued growth. You will probably be able to achieve a length of feet with the goatee, but, for most people, terminal length in the sideburn area is six inches or less.

Ah I remember when I had some killer sideburns like those...I have a beard right now so I could cut 'em back in. When I last got a haircut I hadn't trimmed me sideys for about 9 months and they were nearly as long as my hair when I pulled them out.

Yeah. :-( Still, around 6-inch sideburns would be awesome. Due in part to the encouragement I've received here, I will let my sideburns grow indefinitely and not trim them again.

Well the sideburns look great, but I'm sure about this "modern" half goatee thing. You see alot of the kids with them these days. I say grow the whole goatee or not bother at all!!!

Huh!? He has a full goatee. Are you referring to the "Van Dyke" style that includes a moustache?
Unfortunately, my goatee won't connect that well along the side to a mustache. :-(
Also, FYI, as another pointed out, what I have now IS a goatee by defintion. A mustache has nothing to do with a goatee. (This is a common misconception.)
I like it, I think creative facial hair balances out long hair on men very nicely.

dig the look, that will be me at least facial hairwise in alittle while as I dig having long burns and I have same style goatee as I don't keep mustache for most part as I just don't like the feel above my lips for the most part.
Cool! I'd love to see pics when your 'burns are really long. Let them grow really long.

Lose the frown.
Otherwise it all looks good. Extreme length will work on you.
