Hi guys,
its been a while since Ive posted here. I was attempting to grow my hair out and you all gave me advice and support. Unfortunately I cut my hair (yikes!). I felt like I let you guys down, so I didnt want to come back here :)
Anyway, its been 4 months and Ive suddenly been struck with the bug AGAIN! So for my 3rd and final EVER time, Im going to try to grow my hair out again. Right now Ive got a butch, so itll be a long painful journey all over again. This is my senior year of college and Ive spent over half of it growing my hair then cutting it! Ugh.
When I first cut it, I felt NO REMORSE. My hair was really dark, and it seemed to block a lot of the sun from my face making me look pretty pale. Plus, My hair was really, really greasy. I followed everybody's advice on washing, conditioning, etc. It was just greasy. Itll be about 8 months before I get to that stage, but maybe someone has some advice so Im ready for when it comes.
Anyway, Im here again. Have pity! :)

it sounds like you got about to the height of the 'bad hair' phase, then cut. you didn't let us down, you let yourself down. if you hadn't cut it all those times, how long would it be now? use that as motivation.
unfortunately, you've chosen mid-way through your senior year to begin growing again. that means it'll be nicely in your face just when you're trying to find a job. what kind of job will you be attempting to land? ..or will you be going to pursue a higher degree?
without trimming, you'll have a 2-year wait before you can tie it in a ponytail. can you summon the strength to last that long? there are supposed to be vitamins you can take that'll increase the growth rate. i can't vouch for them, but you may want to give them a try. having grown out some length before, you can make comparisons.
try using a hat or bandana to keep intermediate length hair out of your face. you can also use gel, but that may make the greasy look worse.
good luck
john
Were you pushed by others at the time or just or just tired of trying. Well we are with you. Welcome home! To expect different results while doing the same ole things is a dead end. You need to go to THLS the long hair site and click on LOUISE MARIE LONGHAIRS. There you will find out how to do what is necessary to get what you want. American made shampoos and conditioners are so lacking and have SLS in them which is bad for allergies and eye sight. LM's shampoo and conditioners will do things like none others, I use them and love them all. She has a site that will teach you a lot and she will respond to you by e-mail, the woman is fabulos and I can't wait to meet her. Get in contact through her site and submit the completed form for her to respond to you. Print the text in her info. section, it is so good you will want to have it in hard copy. Diet is important, vitamins are catylist that convert food at cellular level. Minerals and protein are components of hair. LM's site teaches on this. When you get things working right it will be fun and easy. Don't give up on yourself Jason.
Hey Jason,
I feel for you guy. You and I were at about the same stage of growing out back in September, the last time that you updated your web page (prior to it's demise). There were countless times that I wanted to e-mail you, but never did. I almost feel now, that I failed you by not doing that.
I certainly understand what you went through. There have been countless times when I simply wanted to cut, cut, cut. I have resisted though and I am happy to say that I am very glad that I have.
I have learned many things in my almost year of growing out. Number one is that this board is a great resource. Number two is that you must take all advice with a grain of salt and do what YOU need to do to accomplish your goal.
I have found that all stages of growing out have their problems. You simply have to find a way to get through them. If it means a lot of hairspray, well, get a non - alcohol based one. If if means the occasional blow dry (eeek!), well, do it - just pay attention to the feel and quality of your hair and do it only occasionally.
In the area of hair care products, controlling geasy hair or dry hair...well... Here is my belief. There are a lot of products out there. There are also a lot of skin types and hair qualities. I found that I needed to listen to advice, try products and see what worked for ME.. Yes, I tried a LOT of products. Some of them were even BAD for me. As soon as I detected an undesireable result, in the trash it went. To expound on this, I have even discovered that I have had to switch from a good product to another good product once in a while just to keep my hair looking good. I now believe that I have a combination of products that work for me, but I am constantly paying attention to the result and will not hesitate to change my regimen if necessary.
Jason, it is all relative. If you really want to grow it out, you can. It takes more time than anyone wants, more care than anyone wants, but the results can be so gratifying.
I'm telling you, don't give up. If it looks like shit, well it might not next week!! Care for it, do what you need to do. Hey, dude, a month ago, I brushed my hair one morning to find an INCH of dry crappy looking hair ends....YIKES, I thought for sure that I would be cutting an inch off my hair!! I looked at it carefully and discovered that it was simply dry - not split - just dry. I went out and read labels and bought what I felt would help. I was very lucky!! It worked. Um.......I could have cut, but I didn't!! I pursued, I endured, and I conquered!!
Now - LOL - take this all with a grain of salt!!
The best of luck to you Jason!!
