I´m finally at the point to say that I don´t want to grow out my hair. As I would need to wash it every day when it gets long and as nobody here could help me to solve this problem I decided to become shorthaired again :-(
Maybe I will get a longhair again, maybe I get the will to do this in one year...no one knows
sorry you cut your hair because you dont want to wash it ??? thats madness.. i wash my hair maybe twice a week and its fine .
Then you don´t know how it is if you stand up in the morning (EVERY MORNING) and have to wash it, let it dry,... Every Morning!!
I do it. My hair is mid-back length, thick, and curly, and takes 15/20 minutes to wash and comb and stuff, then takes half the day to dry. It's annoying, but I never saw it as a terrible burden. *shrugs*

no i do know..thats why i dont do it ??
You could always try stretching it to a wash every 2 days. But if need be, washing it every day isnt really bad, most people wash theirs daily anyway
I understand completely. If you would not have been happy being a longhair, then you shouldn't have kept it long. People don't need to apologize for something that isn't their decision. Everyone's hair produces oil in different amounts, and if you couldn't handle your genetics, then that's perfectly fine.
The decision was entirely yours......I just don't understand the sad face bit? (Oh that's right.......must have hit the wrong key.) The MAIN thing is that you are happy being yourself and don't wash your hair every 2 days. Bet it is a real relief for you. Whew! Alas, nobody on this board could possibly have help with this (problem?)of washing your hair and keeping it clean. Whatever style you like and avoids washing as much as possible was a GREAT CHOICE for you. All the best.
I have to wash mine every day. Otherwise, it's completely un-manageable.
How long have you been growing? Do you have any pictures? It's too bad we couldn't help you overcome your difficulty with your hair but I certainly understand your situation. I work out every day and I have to rinse my hair. It stays damp for a couple of hours. Yesterday I was hugging a woman (socially) late in the afternoon and as her face pressed against mine it trapped some still-damp hair between us. How embarassing! Anyway, if you haven't done anything drastic I'd advise you to wait two weeks. You expressed some interest in having long hair in the future. Maybe you haven't given up completely?
IYou sound very frustrated. In fact, I do wash my hair (shoulder blade length--growing for almost three years now) every day. Actually, I use shampoo every other day, and simply rinse on the off days. But, my point is, my hair is wet every morning. I get up early enough to have about an hour and a half or two hours before I am going to be out of the house. I am an early riser anyway, so that works well for me.
Sorry you got no help from us. If it's not too late, here is what I do. After I get out of the shower and towel off my body and the water that is running from my hair, I wrap my head, turban-like, in the towel for about five minutes while I dress--except for a shirt. Then, I take the towel off my head and lean over so that my hair is haning down, and using the towel, I squeeze all of the locks of my hair from my head out to the ends. It is amazing how much water this removes from my hair.
Then, I use a gentle, rubber tipped brush with very wide-set bristles to brush out my hair. I know this is controversial, but it is what I do, and to no ill effect.
Then, I shake my hear out, again, leaning over. What this does is allow the strands to separate so that air can move through them, but without tangling the just combed hair.
Then, I go about my business--coffee, email, newspaper, reading, breakfast. Just before I am ready to leave, I put on my shirt, brush my teeth and put my now dry hair in a ponytail or half, however I am going to wear it.
This morning, I went for a walk with my still wet hair. When I returned (30 minutes) my hair was dry. Summer heat in Georgia! but at 7:00 AM.
It works for me, and it is so routine that I don't even think about it. It's taken me three years to get here.
I've said all along, as I have become a longhair, that growing your hair out touches far more than your head--it really enables you to examine your life--if you want to.

I need to wash mine everyday too... just do it at night, that way you don't have to schedule mornings around waiting for your hair to dry.
Through ALL of the Awkward Phases I WASHed. . .
Washed my hair daily 'cause if I didn't I would end up with a Bad Hair Day, anyway...
Washed it day after day. . .week after week. . . month after month...
and I still wash it daily...
Washing & combing hair does not have to be a lot of work if you get it down to a science...
get a rhythm to your technique. . . wet..rinse..condition..rinse. . .then...
get the hell out of the shower. . .blot & squeeze hair in a towel...
put shirt over head. . .comb. .style. . . and...
be on your way...and...
Good Luck!
...it's a good idea for shorthairs to wash their hair everyday or so too. Bathing everyday, though not necessary, is a very good idea and washing your hair at the same time is natural. I don't think that hair length has a whole lot to do with it.
