Because it is an expression of ourselves and our likes. It feels so good brushing the skin and swirling around ones head and shoulders, it feels nice blowing in the wind, so pretty sparkling in the sun, bouncing when we run, being fondled by whoever and brushing against our face when engaged with our lover. Just that much is enough to get me reved up, ready to go hug someone with long hair.   But add one more reason: I look awful with short hair and would never regress to that again!
