Exactly my question! What is this "half-tail?" How does it differ from a normal ponytail?
A half tail is where you tie the top hairs around your hair back and let the lower part of your hair hang free. It's basically where you have a high ponytail and hair hanging free below it.

What Amish Guy said... Think Legolas from Lord of the Rings (although I'm not 100% sure if he ties his hair in a tail or a braid but... you get the idea).
If you look at my entry in Sheri's site of pics, you can see I am wearing a half-tail in the second picture. The half-tail is secured with a plastic clip (rather than a band)
