Some of you may know this already, but for those who don't, I'll go ahead and save you some time, money, and headaches (literally). If you are taking a ONE-A-DAY multivitamin, it's not suggested to take more than well, you guessed it, ONE a day. I was taking more than that, and noticed headaches ect (which is a side effect of vitamin "overdose". Also, when the body has too much of these vitamins, it will only process so much, the rest, goes out in urine.
I won't get in-depth, but I assume this will help at least one person, and save them a bit of trouble.
I take protein powders, even though I dont weight-train.
I use Body Fortress (US made), it comes in different varieties and it contains essential amino acids and proteins and of course vitamins and minerals.
I use such substance because I`m thinking that maybe it helps to get better hair or even faster growth.
Protein powers are a nice and convenient way to ingest some extra protein. It's easier to drink some extra nutrients instead of eating them. However, they're not miracle products. They won't make your hair grow faster, unless you have a deficiency. Protein powders and weight gainers (protein powder with extra carbs) are basically just food, so you can obtain the same results from eating fish or meat. Also, not all brands include high quality proteins. Some, not all of them, are kown to cause excessive bloating of in the intestines - put plainly; they make you fart! Now what's up with that? Paying mega bucks for something that makes one smell like an open sewer? Hah!
That only goes for the water soluble vitamins, which consist of members of the vitamin B complex and vitamin C. Taking megadoses of those won't hurt, especially if you're a very active person.
Things are a bit different with fat soluble vitamins. High doses of those interfere with blood clotting and may increase the risk of bleeding in people with bleeding tendencies or those on anticoagulants (blood thinners). Megadose intake may induce blurred vision or headaches, mild dermatitis to hemorrhage, increased intracranial pressure, and liver damage.
I take Biotin 600 and I take it every 12 hours,so should i start taking it only once?
Not exactly, I don't think biotin is the main cause of the headaches...its actually the real vitamins, a,b,c ect. At walmart Ive seen biotin 1200 being sold, so thats what your intaking now, so you should be good, but if you take multivitamins, and notice a "tumor like headache" it might be time to drop your intake.
Too many fat soluble vitamins can be toxic and even lethal. For instance, polar bear liver contains a whopping 24,000 to 35,000(!!!) units of vitamin A per gram and also large amounts of vitamin D, which is toxic to humans if eaten. Explorers have gotten ill, and some even died from Vitamin A poisoning because they had polar bear liver for dinner. The symptoms include stomach pains, skin was falling off the bodies in strips and (now it gets interesting!) hair dropping out in handfuls. That stuff can even make sled dogs violently ill.
Hey all, what are the most important vitamins for healthy hair? I know a balance is important, but few vitamins are truly "complete". Vitamin E is one, I think, but what are some others?

I'm not sure I've noticed this myself yet, but a friend and work and I both take MelVita and MelaCal, supplements sold by Melaleuca Inc. (it's direct-sale, e-mail me if you want the info.) Anyway, Tim mentioned that he thought his hair grew much quicker since he'd been taking the MelVita and MelaCal. He swears it's harder to keep up with (Tim's a caesar-cut kind of guy.) Now, mine is probably 6 inches long, so I don't notice the changes that quickly, but I have to say, lately it just looks like it's making quicker progress these days. (Of course, that could be the end of awkward stage #1 - the point at which it finally starts to fill in and actually look longer rather than shaggier.)
So, who knows if it's really true, but vitamins seem to promote healthier hair growth.
