So you want hair like a girl, alright. This might help some of you other clipped poodles growing out your hair as I am.
First of all, from a physiological standpoint, there is absolutly no difference between men and womens hair, it's exactly the same stuff! The reason why men's hair often looks like hell is because they don't know how to take care of it properly. During the growing out phase, guys damage it beyond repair, then it's too late and it will never look good. This is particualarly true if you have the cursed "Northern European Dirty-blonde Wavy Hair" type as I do (but at least I have a lot of it!)
Most of this damage is done by blowdrying and combing or brushing wet hair. Yeah, I know, you want it straighter, so do I but have some patience. Get long enough and the weight will straighten it out, if it's in good condition it will lay down much better.
Here's what's working out extremely well for me during the growing out phase:
1. Kill your blowdryer.
2. Wash your hair daily and use a light dandruff shampoo to keep your scalp in good condition because you will be walking around with wet hair a lot.
3. After washing gently towel dry and then plop in a large glop of "KMS Styling and Setting Gel." I wouldn't use anything else, I've tried plenty of cheap garbage but this stuff works incredibley! Then comb the gel through with a "wide-tooth" comb. Your done!
4. After your hair is completely dry comb it out gently, then brush it thoroughly with a good quality brush. It will come out quite a bit straighter with very few frizzies believe me!
Using this technique I have had zero split ends and far less hair loss, as a result my hair is quite thick with virtually zero damage so far. Thus, I don't really need any trims. When it gets long enough I will go to a professional salon and get it bobbed so it's all one length and then it's on its way down my back.
Good luck guy!
