I never had long hair and therefore I have a question. A few days ago I bought a conditioner, so my hair will be in a good shape when it gets long (it´s at 1/2 inch now -> just started)...
My question is: Is there a problem when I wash my hair daily? As I use a conditioner there shouldn´t be any problem with my hair in the future, am I right?
It depends. I wash my hair every other day with conditioner and I try to shampoo it no more then twice a week.
Why do you wash your hair just with conditioner???
Too much shampooing can dry out your hair. Alot of women only use conditioner everyday and shampoo maybe once a week, especially curly haired women.
And washing it with conditioner makes it clean?
It's not the hair so much as the scalp that gets dirty and needs to be cleaned. Washing with conditioner is a more gentle way to massage the scalp and work up all the dirt that can then be rinsed away with the conditioner. This IS especially helpful for curly-haired people as it will reduce the frizzies.
It's when you don't wash your head at all that the dirt and oil from you scalp work their way onto your hair and make it look disgusting. Keep the scalp clean with a gentle conditioner and you CAN go a lot longer without washing your hair.
Now, if you're using a styling product, then yes, you have put crap into your hair and will need to shampoo it out. But if you're not using a product, you can just conditioner-clean the scalp and shampoo a lot less often.

Well thanks I think I will give it a try!
Also, when you DO shampoo...
many longhair pros will apply the shampoo to the top of the head only...
and let it wash down toward the ends...
you're welcome
i have had the best results with using rain water..
hard water is a tough issue here in arizona and unfortunately, what rain water??!! :)
Washing your hair with conditioner adds more oily. Conditioners restore what the shampoo took away. If i dont wash my hair EVERYDAY and WITH shampoo, it gets oily. I can only imagine washing it with conditioner. You should never use conditioner at the scalp by the way. Too much oil can be harmful for your hair. You shouldn't over condition OR over shampoo.
It all depends on which hairtype you have. Obviously yours gets greasy if you don't wash it more requently. In my case, my hair and scalp get too dry if I wash them with shampoo. That's why I try to limit the use of shampoo in the first place. Even when I use only conditioner, I still use a stay in and some pomade afterwards.
Thant's interestin. Do you wait outside till it gets cloudy?
Rain water is free of minerals, esp. calcium.
Calcium spoils the performance of conditioners and shampoos.
Rain water can be saved in a bottel a few days or you can use
distilled water.
I use to damp my hair a bit before combing and the water makes a great difference!
is distilled water close 'in performance' to rain water?
Thechnically it should be superior.
Oh, I know about that stuff. I used to love chemistry in highschool and college. The one thing that one needs to take into account is that rain water may not be as pure as you think because of all the junk that gets spewed into the air nowadays.
So that the sebum (natural scalp oil) has more of a chance to get at my hair.
I use shampoo only every 2nd or sometimes 3rd day. On days where I don't shampoo I still rinse my hair with warm water. This gets rid of sweat, excess oil, and styling product. Then I use a conditioner. I find my hair looks best a few days *after* the last shampoo and worst right after I shampoo (dry and frizzy even after conditioning). Shampooing just seems to take out a quantity of natural oil that can't be replaced by conditioner. You will have to experiment to see how often you need to shampoo your hair. In my case the longer my hair gets the less often I have to shampoo.
