My sister recently learned how to do fish plaits, and she's been trying them out on me! I thought I'd post a few pics since I like the way they look.
Mental Note: Learn how to do these.
All I can say is, NICE!
How do I love thee, Google, let me count the ways...
Wow~! Very nice indeed. I would compliment you more, but I'm trying to conceal my bitter jealousness of your hair. I also really enjoy the way you care for it. I can tell! :D
I imagine I will try something similiar when my hair is a little longer. The same braid that you have except braided on the sides like the Legolas braid. Some site showed a longhaired man getting it done and I tried to find the link to post here but couldn't. Oh well, great hair nonetheless.

Hey, AmishGuy, guess what I found!
;)
I did a Google search for "fishbone braid", and voila!
Wow, you're hair is frickin' awesome!!
WOW! i am impressed! what incredible hair! and i like the fish plait too...i've seen guys with their whole head done that way, (mainly bikers) with just one big plait, and thought it looked cool too:
congrats on a great head of hair!

Dude... looks totally awesome!!!
Ohh! How cool is that? Congrats to your sister for learning that braid...it's hard! And of course kudos to you for that lovely mane of yours ^_^

Amazing! Have you gone out in public with your that way?
If you have...what were the comments like?

Last week I had all my hair in a single plait of this style and was meeting some friends in possibly the most longhair-unfriendly pub I've ever come across, I was seriously considering taking it out before I got there. Since it was only Monday evening I wasn't too worried.
As it turned out, I didn't get any hassle whatsoever, and the girls seemed to be impressed. They didn't believe for a second that a guy could've done it on his own though - maybe one day!
I think this is a very feminine style though, I'd be wary of wearing it out on a Friday or Saturday night - still too much hostility in my local area.
hmmmmm...I don't know...maybe some people would think I was
flaunting a Fish Plait in their faces...
I guess a ponytail seems tame and ordinary compared to that style...
Maybe a person could wear all of his hair in one big fish plait with
large hoop earrings, dripping in tattoos...
topped of with a wide-brim black hat and embossed leather boots
while wearing a 'pirate shirt'
anyway, they would surely 'get their attention' but
keep them 'off balance' long enough to prevent any kind of verbal abuse...
Sweet! Looks good my friend, I'm SO gonna ask my lady to try that on me.
Here's a link to detail instructions, and sample photos, on how to weave this braid.

Thanks for the link - I really do need to learn how to do some of this stuff on my own!
What a great followup and great site to learn how to do this braid. My hair is too long for me to do it to myself and look good( either that or my arms are too short) but the girl that does my hair loves to try new things and I will share this with her. Thanks again!

I really like the half-pony styles as they're practical (keeping hair off your face) and very aesthetically pleasing. It's always good to see pics of people on this board trying them out!
Your sister did an awesome job, but then you have beautiful hair to experiment with many different looks and styles. It is nice to see your comfortable within as well to wear your hair the way you like.

Absolutely exquisite! Very Artistic and looks great!
Very, very nice!
I have a few questions and comments.
I think that it does look a touch feminine, but that doesn't freak me out. You have a bit of a baby face so any sort of adornment or arrangement is likely to make you look softer. Wear it proudly and be happy.
How tall are you? The picture does not show the end of the braid so I am curious how long your hair is compared to your height.
Did it take long to be done? Is it easier to do with more hair in a fatter braid or less hair in a skinny braid.
How secure is it? Could you sleep in it?
How long do you plan on letting your hair grow?
Very, very nice!
Thanks!

When I took the face shot I was certainly surprised at how ambiguous my appearance became. This style definitely has a huge impact on your overall look. The lack of facial hair is a factor too - nearly 20 and I can't get any proper growth, haha.
How tall are you?
I'm 5'10" - my hair's 28" at the longest point.

My sister's pretty deft with them now - and she did the one in the photos in about 5 minutes. She says it's easier to do with all your hair in the braid.
How secure is it? Could you sleep in it?
They actually stay very secure. You have to carefully unthread upon removal as it all stays very tight and interlocked. I'm sure these plaits would pass the "sleep-test".
How long do you plan on letting your hair grow?
I honestly don't give much thought to goal length anymore - all I know is that I prefer my hair long and at the moment I'm happy to let it do its own thing. I'm curious to see how far it'll go.
What a cute style on great hair! :-)
Great Pictures. Your hair is beautiful and that is a great look on you. Thanks for sharing. Hope to see more pics of your hair in variou styles. Best of luck with yoru continued growth.
