After just watching the August 5th installment of Tom Green, I feel very uncomfortable. Tom got legit pissed off at this guy named Jesse James Dupree.
If you want to see it for yourself and don't want the spoiler, don't keep reading..
****
Okay so this guy named Jesse James Dupree from his band Jackyl is coming on the show to display his new Guitar that is combined with a chainsaw. So everything's smooth and he gets introduced and comes out with his chainsaw. He revs it up and tears into Tom's desk - Carving his name in it - and tearing a chuck out of it and tossing it to the crowd. So he sits down and I thought it was all part of the show.
I should mention this guy has *GREAT* shoulderblade length hair. Semi-straight-semi waves. Looks almost just like Jericho's hair from WWE. It was well groomed and trimmed.. so anyhow..
But Tom begins to get seriously upset. It reminded me of Andy Kauffman going offbook because the rest of the show was so uncomfortable. He asked the producer if this was okay and he said no and all poor Jesse could do was smile. He looked embarrassed, rightfully so. So Tom goes and calls him a dork, they do their bit where Jesse play his guitar and Tom plays drums through it VERY apathetically and calls him a loser and he has a stupid invention. The guy just takes it.
They went to commericials and when they came back, Jesse was obviously not there. Tom trashed him some more, took his band's CD and smash it with a hammer. Said he played music from 15 years ago and it will never sell. Basically implied he was a loser for his image and hair.
Man I felt so crestfallen. This guy had great hair and played guitar like me and pretty much did one stunt and gets ripped. I hate to say this, but I think people will relate the longhair to this incident. He's a "dork" for having longhair and plays stupid music. I really frown upon this.
I'm in weird mood now. I know this post is now uber long, but hopefully you guys see where I'm coming from. It seems like the longhairs are always getting the shaft.

I saw this as well. However, I don't think his hair had anything to do with it. Tom tells the truth when he says that the shows has a very low budget. I also believe that this artist did not get the show's permission to do this stunt. I don't blame Tom for being upset. If Tom had said something about his hair directly it would be a whole different story. Tom Green had awquard stage hair himself in the movie Stealing Harvard. It was his own hair too. He's had a few long-haired males on his new show already who were treated well.
First, and foremost, Tom Green is a dickhead. He always has been.
Second, you give far, far too much credance into what the entertainment industry thinks about long hair on men. You need to stop personalizing, and focus on you. You might find that difficult to accept now, but you'll grow wiser with age. Trust me.
As for this incident having a lasting impact on the stigma associated with longhaired men? Puh-lease...
Finally, I've written posts that were far longer than your's. That little number couldn't hold a candle to some of my contributions on other forums.
;)
I thought the guy had some pretty decent music. He had great hair that went good with his soul patch. What I don't get is that a week or so ago, dave mirra was grinding on his desk and said something about trashing it. I think Tom was a little harsh on him. Im not sure if it had to do with his long hair though.
Call it a personal indifference, but I try not to mind those who allow MTV to dictate how they think and act.
I just got done watching that. Man Tom Green acted like an asshole. I remember a week or so ago Dave Mirra was grinding on his desk and Tom said nothing about it. The guy did have great hair and his band wasn't half bad either. Sorry Tom, usually your cool, but for today you get the thumbs down.....
That's disappointing as Jesse used to have GREAT hair that reached to his butt!
Hmm, sorry, can't say I agree. I don't see how any of Tom Green's actions imply that he doesn't agree with long hair. What I think it does say is that he doesn't like people ripping into his desk with a chainsaw on national television. I can't balem the guy, I don't think I would either.
Nobody. . .and I do mean NOBODY...has the right to tear
someone's Spirit (and gifts!) to shreds like that.
Bad...very bad...
don't get depressed over idiots who will even go so far...
as to use the 'power' their own show has given them...
Just isn't right no matter how you L(.)(.)K at it...
Amen...but no 'Good Luck' to him.
Umm, TOM GREEN has had long hair before, he wasn't making fun of the guys hair, he was making fun of the way he was acting, and TOM was goin overboard.
Hi!
If he was using a chainsaw I hope he had his hair tied up well away from the blade. That's all I can say!
Hmmm, well I would be pissed off too if someone was carving up my personal property. However, anyone who watches Tom Green expecting to see biting social commentary and maturity is not on the right station. Perhaps in a way though, he was making a reference to Jesse's hair, but Tom probably would have said something like that to a shorthair, too. That would be like if I called Michael Jackson a weirdo and he thought I was being rascist or something (although that's an ENTIRELY separate issue). It's just a coincedence.
Anyway, Tom Green is an idiot and Jesse probably should have expected something like that from him. I'm not saying it was right, especially defaming him on television. But he gets paid to do pretty much whatever he damn well pleases, and the public (for the most part) enjoys it and condones it.
So, Amish Guy, I definitely would take what Tom Green says with a grain of salt (or maybe a shakerful) and don't worry about what he says. Worst case scenario, if he was making fun of Jesse's hair, then that's his frickin problem and he can keep his opinions to himself for all I care. He is definitely not one to take seriously in the least. It's OK, if you close your eyes and turn off the TV, he will go away ^_^

ok I hate people degrading long hair as long as the next guy but, I dont think he was completely unjustified in his doing. I mean -- completely random he brought a chainsaw out and ruined his desk. He really stressed on tonights show how mad he was about it, and how he considered it vandalism. Tom green wasn't ragging on him because of his hair but because of the desk. honestly if you have anyone to blame, I think it has to be the chainsawer, you just dont do that. Then again maybe tom just didnt like him period :P
The odd thing is, I've heard of Jackyl, but not this green guy. who cares what he says or thinks.
Jackyl rocks. Who's green? who knows or cares. He's just a guy trying to make a buck by putting someone else down. LOSER.
Reminds me of my first husband! "I'm sooo bad I have to put other people down to make myself look good."
LOSER!!!
Well, I watched the show. I admit Tom got upset, but I don't think the guys hair had much do with it. I am a big fan of the Tom Green show. Maybe not of Tom Green, but I do love the show. Leno or Letterman would have just kissed the guys ass. If someone pisses you off. You don't have to take it. Jesse James should have defended himself. He did not. I think that he was wanting to get some exposure and it back fired. That is the business and the business sucks.
I didn't see the show, because I stopped watching commercial TV years ago. Just turn the damn thing off! There are much better things to do than watch degenerate TV.
Tom Green is just pissed off cause he wishes he had Jesse's balls (literally)!
I was a fan of Tom Green and saw this episode and I can't believe that Tom got upset. After all the CRAP he pulled on his parents and embarresing them and Humplick numerous times on MTV, and all the street people that became unwilling fools on his show, this nerd Tom gets upset at Jesse James Dupree for doing what Tom probably would have done himself in the show. SCREW you Tom for not being able to take what YOU dish out. You owe Jesse a nationwide apology and you should get out of the business for being a crybaby. An x-fan.
He didn't get the shaft because of his long hair and all around image. He disrespected Tom by detroying his property on his show without approval. Tom put it all in perspective when he said, "what would Jesse think if I grabbed his guitar without asking and smashed it to pieces in front of him?" Tom would have been pissed off regardless of Jesse's appearance, even if he looked like, say, Jenna Jamison and came out with a flashy dance number. And plus she's naked and smothered in honey, okay, so maybe then Tom wouldn't be pissed, but I stand by my words dudes.
Tom Green is a TOTAL HYPOCRITE. He smashes other peoples' stuff ALL THE TIME. Just earlier that week he took some guy's Segway scooter (denting the $5000 thing) and smashed a huge mirror in a dept. store with it.
When the shoe is on the other foot, Tom Green gets pissed? Now he knows how everyone else feels!
Tom Green Rocks!!! Jesse was definantly in the wrong for doing that. If you would've watched the night later, you would have seen that if he would have cut a little further in the desk, he could have been electricuted. Tom may destroy stuff, but I'm sure he probably gets permission first.
