Here's my question:
I have been told that conditioner should never go to the roots of your hair. Then how do you use conditioner. Do you just start just below the roots or to you only put a bit on the tips of the hair?
Also anyone know the reason for this?

I think its cos it can irritate your scalp... least thats what I found today using L'Oreal L VIVE *scratches head* iches like mad!!

i dont know about that answer im afraid but id be interested to know too, i also have another conditioner question: mine says 'comb through hair'. is this wise? Ive tried it a couple of times with a wide tooth comb in the shower and seem to lose a fair bit. My hair is about 13inches now and i tend to wash it properly alternative days, and just rinse it in between. Thanks.
I've always understood that instruction to mean that you are to 'comb' through your hair with your hands after you apply conditioner to your scalp.
Don't worry too much about conditioning your roots, unless you deep condition them everyday for a long time (or something like that) you won't notice any difference. I condition my hair, roots and all, everyday without trying to keep it off of certain areas. I think that the idea is that the ends need the conditioning more than your roots so if you concentrate more on that then you will be fine (depending a little on your hair length).

Every time you use shampoo follow it with conditioner. This will keep your hair nice so it will be around for a long time.
Put conditioner in your hair after you have washed out the shampoo, then wash the conditioner out of your hair.
Try using a light conditioner (or "creme rinse") every day or two even if you don't shampoo everyday.
Try different things and see what works best for your hair. You may find that shampooing only 2-3 times a week works fine along with the daily conditioning.
Remember that conditioner is a longhair's friend.
