i've had this problem before with some gels, but it doesn't happen with all. i am using the l'oreal melting gel, and washing with the vive curl moisture shampoo and conditioner... whenever i go to put the melting gel in my hair, it lathers up somewhat... and if i were to comb it, there would be "suds" visible on the hair and the comb. so i'm wondering if this is normal, has anyone else had this happen? i wash out the shampoo thoroughly, for several minutes, yet this still happens. am i doing anything wrong?
That is very odd. I have been using L'Oreal Melting Gel for a little bit and I've never had that problem. Are you putting it in your hair while it's soaking wet? That might have something to do with it. Or perhaps if you rub it in your hands, it creates air bubbles in the gel itself. Those are the only things I can think of.
Anyone else have any ideas?

normally i do rub my hands together before putting it in my hair...but today i didn't do it, and it still "foamed" up. very strange... i really think i'm rinsing my hair good enough after shampooing/conditioning, so i can't understand why it would do this. it wouldn't have anything to do with hair type would it? i mean, the gel still works well for me, as far as holding in place and giving the hair a nice sheen. ehhh, i may have to try some other gel products...
Something is definitely wrong! I've been using the MELTing Gel for over a year...
an it NEVER 'suds up'...
It is super slick and never made so much as even a teeny tiny bubble!
Are you sure your hair type is not retining the shampoo somehow?
i guess that is possible... you think i should try rinsing more?
