i wanna grow my hair long but i dont know how....should the sides back and top be all even when i start? If not then what should the lengths be!
No need to shout...it's not so scary ^_^
Basically, it doesn't really matter what the lengths are, they don't really need to be all even. You can always get them straightened out later.
Other than that, all you need to do is sit and wait for Mother Nature to do her thing. Invest in some hair gel to help keep it out of your face, get a wide toothed comb and a boar bristle hairbrush, and have loads of PATIENCE. I'm not sure how long your hair is now, but at some point you'll reach the "awkward stage"...this is where you need most of your patience. It will be worth it, so don't give up!! Now is a good time to start testing shampoos and conditioners to see which are the best for your hair. Search the archives for some more ideas.
Everyone here has, at some point, gone through what you will (or something similar), so stop by for moral support now and again.

the short answer is just dont cut it and let it grow.. it takes patience and thats something you need lots of if you want long hair. especially if your growing it from anwhere around 1 inch long .. its gonna be a long road ahead.
I think the best thing to do is just let ALL grow from where it is now. DO NOT get a trim or haircut for at least 2 years. By then "all" should have a way of leveling-itself out. Good Luck!
I think its best to grow the top and keep the back and sides in check until the top reaches ear length...
If you go for the No Cut option then you had better have a will of steel because the arkward stage will drive you nuts for the best part of 12 months. [I dont have that will.]
If you trim your hair regularly (Every 3-4 months) then you'll probably find it easier to grow out as you'll maintain some "style" whilst you do it, but trims of any nature slow growth...
I have got to give it to ya, you have got guts to wanna grow it out long. Personally, I have found that I can pick a style I like and then go through an akward stage until I find a new one. So my advice is to keep a lookout for styles you can pull off in succession. I have had some success with a shag-like style until the bangs got close to the hairline at the base of my skull, when I got the lengths cut even with one another. Hope this helps!
where are you now, what is your goal and what are your personal tastes?
No one can answer that question but you.
