Hello! ^^ I'm new around here, just stumbled on the page by chance.
I have been debating whether or whether not to grow my hair out for a long time now. I used to have quite long hair and it was completely straight (Apparently, though, when it is around 3 or 4 inches it loses it's frizz/wave and becomes completely straight, which I can't explain at all.) - At the moment, I have dark, wavy hair, (cut quite short, almost an inch long on top) and when it gets to a little longer than this it starts to frizz and wave all over the place. I haven't been able to find anything to remedy this (It can be quite embarassing) - my hair is also quite dry, and very rebellious.
Currently, all my gel is "wet-look" stuff, which I actually hate, as it turns your hair rock-solid and sticky - and when it wears off, you get big blue blobs in your hair.
Is there no gel with a great hold, and a "wet" look that doesn't turn your hair completely rock solid? Also, are there any ways to prevent (or at least subdue) the effects of the bad-hair besides gel or wax?
Dispairingly,
Ben
Welcome, Ben! You've come to the right place.
It's due to the weight of your hair...mine does it too.
A lot of us here like L'Oreal Melting Gel (from the Studio FX line). Put it in while it's wet, comb through, and leave it alone. It takes down the frizz and flyaways, and it doesn't feel like regular gel (if someone put it in my hair when I was asleep, I'd never know). It also has no alcohol, which dries out the hair and makes it look even frizzier.
Give it a try and let us know how it turned out.

How long do you usually have to wait until you can touch and play with your hair again?
Eh, it depends. Personally, I never touch my hair when it's soaking wet...I let it towel dry, then put in Vive Serum and Melting Gel, comb through, and leave it again. I don't really play around with it too much until it's just about dry, because it makes my hair frizz. After that, you can play with it (or have someone else play with it ^_~) all you want.

Thank you for the warm welcome and speedy assistance ^_^;
I'll try it and let you know how it turns out.
And if nobody objects, I think I might stick around for awhile :)
