I'd love to grow my hair out long.. but it's naturally wavy. I know that if I do, the hair'll look all tangled and horrible. Is there ANY way I could get it straightened to the max? I mean ------------------- straight, and for at least some time. I heard there are various ways to do it in salons but I have no clue how it's done or anything about it.
Find a salon who has a really great rep for working with people with longhair, and ask them about using what's called a "relaxer". It's a solution they apply to people who want, literally, bone-straight hair. I've seen the effects on people who's hair is naturally curly/wavy. It WORKS.
Didn't work for me. My hair looked pretty much the same as before after having a salon relax it. I think maybe they were afraid it would be too straight or something and didn't leave it in long enough. I just pull it straight when I blow dry it, using a small cylindrical brush. That works better. I'm also using Aussie Dewplex as a leave-in conditioner after washing. Seems to give better control.
People with wavy hair want it straight, straight hair'd people want it curly! Don't let it being wavy stop you from growing it out!! No! My hair is VERY wavy and VERY thick.. Any of the guys here will tell you that no matter what texture hair you have, it goes through a 'transistion' period where it looks ratty and un-managable.. That is just part of it.. After a few months though, you will notice that it is starting to
'relax' on its own- the weight of the hair straightens it some, more as it gets longer.. As Matthew points out, a salon is the best bet and there are many products that will help, but some of them are like a perm.. Be aware that the hair you treat with chemicals is the part of the hair you want to last the longest..
Happy growing!!
