A couple of days ago I posted a message indicating that I would love to get e-mails on either of two subjects: hair wet set on jumbo rollers, or huge, very heavily teased and lacquered bouffant hairdos. My e-mail is now working and I'd love to hear from anyone interested in either or both subjects. I have lots of great stories to share, and would love to hear yours. I also have some videos and pictures, a few of them quite unique, that I might be interested in trading and/or loaning. But I would welcome any correspondence and on-going communications/relationships dealing with a common interest in these subjects. Hope to hear from jumbo roller set/big bouffant hairdo enthusiasts soon. Love, Crystal.
Crystal, there a few good web sites devoted to roller sets and retro hairdos. Why not contribute your material to one of them so we can all enjoy it?
Hi Crystal
I really enjoyed the days of the bouffant hairdo. That was a wonderful
period in our fashion history. Alan has done a great job with a
catalogue of movies that offer scenes of some of the processes. As J.J suggested you might want to consider adding your material to one of
the existing sites that are dedicated to the subject.
It would be great to keep this thread going either here on or another
message board. There are also several irc channels that are dedicated
to the subject if you are interested in some 'real time' discussion.
Dear Crystal,
I agree totally that one of the most intriguing sights in the world, or at least in my world, is the inside of a women's hair salon. Like many others, I have been drawn to the salon since I was about ten or so, when I would sit in the waiting area watching all the activity, while my mother was having her hair done.
Some years ago I grew my hair (straight, mid- to dark brown) long, just past shoulder length, with the single hope that I could have it washed, curled, dried, teased and lacquered, however cowardice got the better of me.
My partner now is happy to set my hair, but it is seldom long enough to have a really striking effect, despite some wonderful make up and accessories.
As a matter of interest, there is an obscure New Zealand site that has images of hair driers (they sell them), but you can only access the images if you are hitting their site from within New Zealand!!! I'm close as I'm in Australia (and many Australians think of New Zealand as theirs anyway), but not close enough apparently.
Finally, I need some assistance, I am new to irc and havent conquered it yet, where does the chat about hair related matters take place? Once I know a few of the tricks to it I'm sure I'll figure the rest out.
All the best from down under,
Annie/Chris
There are quite a few of us that were equally impressed with the
images we remember from seeing the activities inside beauty salons
when we were young. I still have nightmares about not being able to
find my mother in a roomful of women under large black hairdryers.
I would welcome the opportunity to discuss my obsessions with others
having similiar experiences, either here or on one of the irc
channels such as #hair2 on undernet.

Hi All
I would love to discuss this subject with all of you on the irc
channel #hair2. The channel is very quiet, therfore very private,
from 6 am through 6 pm (USA time zones). Evenings and weekends have
increased traffic but you can always have private chats using DCC.
To all who have responded here on through e-mails, thanks very much. I really appreciate and enjoy hearing from you, and I intend to stay in close touch. Please keep the e-mail coming -- just like in big hairdos, the more the better. To those who suggested that I put some of the material I have on sites dedicated to our interests, I will start doing that as soon as I learn how and I get my computer up to speed -- I'm still new at this, so please have patience with me. Love, Crystal.
Crystal I would really like to chat with you. jan michael
I've always been an enthusiast of big updo hair styles. I love going to a salon with wiglet in hand, asking for a wash and set and a comb out in a big elaborate do. I like the idea of an irc chat channel. Now all I have to do is figure out how to get on line
