Which way do you with LONG hair (below shoulder length) do with it besided the ponytail? I've seen Hair Religions braid (really nice) but other than that, most photos of guys with long hair I see are simply sporting the stylish but simplistic ponytail.
Anybody have a favorite braid and directions on how to braid it? (My hair's nowhere near long enough yet, but I better get learning now, right?)

I usually wear it 1. hanging down loose and free 2. in a ponytail
3. braided. The best way to have it braided is to have a girl friend who will do it for you.
But you should try anything and everything. The only way to
find out what you like and what works for you is to try it.
Learning to braid is a very handy skill, but one that seems to be pretty tricky for a lot of guys. I'm sure any of your long-haired friends will be happy to let you practice on them...ladies always appreciate having their hair braided by a guy ^_^

must learn to braid...
surprisingly enough, the best braiders i've ever known where men, especially this kid i used to go to elementary school with. he'd make up really nifty braids on peices of string and the like. guess he was just good at that kind of thing.
i like the braids that the elves wore in the lord of the rings trilogy. my step-dad usually makes that braid on my head, since he's the only one that seems to know how to do it.
The basic three strand braid is easy to do.
If I can do it, anybody can, and thre are sites which give instructions.
My hair is about mid-back length. It was a bit of a rough start leaning to braid it, but after a few weeks of practice it has become very easy. I found the Dreamweaver Braiding site indespensible:

They even have some male-specifics like the Legolas braid.
