My hair is about waist long. It is black, shining and silky. I am wearing it
As a ponytail. I am starting to get comments that indicate my hair is
Too Long. These people are not necessary against long hair, since
I had have long hair in last past 5 years and I didnt have any
problems before my hair reached waist length. It is also not convenient to
Carry the long ponytail at day-by-day life. Do you know any hair
Style which can hide my length a little bit? I am not ready to
cut my hair yet. I want to see what is the maximum length which
I can reach. Thanks.
What about a braid that you can pin to the back of your head? Or a bun, for that matter. Anyway, you should be proud of your hair and keep it growing. Let us hear what people say once it is past your butt!
A guy at my work braided his hair and tucked it under his jacket, he always wore a suit. Depending on the cut at the side it is often hard to tell exaxtly how long the hair actually is. I don't agree with the previous suggestion to wear a bun or put your hair up, I do not think it will achieve the look you appear to want.
I actually heard a rumor once about an on-air personality that hid hair in his jacket. Does anyone know about this story, and who the person was?

Before I left Romania in 1988 I used to tie my hair in a ponytail and tuck it under my shirt. That saved me from a lot of troubles with the police - long hair was frown upon during the communist regime...

If these people did not mind your hair when it was in a ponytail before it was this long, then make it appear shorter. Put several bands in your ponytail. Take the last foot of hair and pull it under and put it into one of the other bands. Then it will not hang as long. Using several bands will also help you maintain control of the hair from the ponytail flying.
So far Gabriel and Nick have the best, and most common, suggestions. Their quick and easy to do, low maintenance, and easy to take out. There are other method, of which I have little to no skill at so don't ask for exact details, that can accomplish the same thing.
One is to braid it then tuck the braid up and under the hair at the back of your head. The tough part is the braiding and securing the braid in. To braid, I believe that you drirect the braid up instead of down, tucking it in and securing it (mostlikely with hairpins) may require help since it is all in the back of you head. With practice you might be able to do this your self.
The other way is to simply make a reverse bun, as it were. If you've ever seen those quick bun wrappers (I don't know their 'official' name, so don't ask, its a plastic piece that has a slit for the hair and connects the ends when the bun is made), just wrap in reverse. This tucks all the hair in and hides the bun. Its fairly easy, with a little practice, and does the job.
Otherwise, as I said, doubling up the ponytail or tucking it in the shirt are the best ideas. Try them all and see which one you want to take to work.
