Yes it is. Hair that is 12 feet long is extremely rare but does exist. Mine is over 3 feet long but 12 foot hair is found on fewer than 1 in 100 million people. Dianne Witt has the longest hair in the United States at 13 feet long and I have a wallpaper of her on my desktop. She is a real life Rapunzel. An elderly man who lived in Thailand who just recently died had hair about 19 feet long. The story about him is that he fell ill after getting his hair cut when he was 18 years of age, became superstitious, and never got it cut again. Absalom
If anybody knows, were his strands 19 feet long or was it dreadded? Both are an accomplishment of handling massive amounts of hair though if dreaded it does not describe a genetically gifed feat. Either way he certainly was a rarity.
I have seen video and photos of the man but both were poor resolution. It appeared to be individual strands which he multiple wrapped around his head to keep it under control and looked like a hat when seen from a distance.
Wow. If it really was that long while not dreaded, he's either losing very little hair, growing hair quite fast, or both.
Then again, I heard Thailand has cold winters, so I wouldn't be surprised if many people there were capable of growing long hair; eiher due to adaptations to the cold or special genes. We all know that most heat is lost from the head.
Wow, thanks Absalom! Sounds like he had no growth cycle so it just kept lengthening. Makes me wonder how many people have this capability and never let their hair grow to find out about it. Neat stuff. Thanks for reporting it!
Probably fewer than 1 in a million or we would certainly see hundreds of people with hair this long worldwide. Absalom
