Well, I've been letting my hair grow since March of 2002... sort of. I had to have the back trimmed last January for a show, and in June I had the sides trimmed up to match the back (making it look less helmet-like) - but in all that time I've never touched the bangs, because I always slick those straight back. Still, they're barely down to the top of my lower lip. BARELY. Like, maybe one little tiny clump of hair.
Does it always take a lot longer for the bangs to grow? Everything else seems to be getting along nicely. People are starting to say my hair looks good (again... there was a great big honking awkward phase when I don't think anyone - me included - thought it looked good.) But I'm just impatient as all heck to see the bangs get down to my chin. UGH.
Anyone else experinece this? Is it my Suave shampoo and conditioner? Is it just because I'm 45?

...right there with you, my friend. I've been growing since July 2002 and I've been taking other supplements to try to increase hair growth. I haven't touched my bangs at all and they're only around my top lip. I know exactly what you mean about impatience. In fact, there were a couple of times where I just wanted to write on how long it's taking to achieve some decent length. So, to answer your question of "is it because I'm 45?", I'd say "no", it's just because we're impatient! I don't know about you, but I can't even get my hair in a tail, or even half tail, yet without it coming out all over. It's frustrating, but we'll get there...eventually. :)
Is it just because I'm 45?
Might have something to do with it. My hair has grown a lot more slowly when growing out this time (from age 39 to 48) than it did when I first grew it out (age 18-22).
Time and patience and NO TRIMS will help.
Hmm... I've been growing my hair from March 2002 also, and my bands are well past my chin... about an inch past...
Advice... be patient I guess. You'll get there in the end.
I've been growing for nearly 10 months and my bangs are just above my top lip, I expect to reach botoom lip by new year. It makes you sick doesn't it? Anyway, although you don't say so I guess your impatient for your bangs to grow so you can wear your hair in a tail right? Sick of it in your face, blowing around in wind etc?
Me too - so yesterday I started wearing the top layers (including the bangs tied back in a high tail. (A-la-beckham) it works for me.
I have also been letting my hair grow since March of 2002. But unlike you I don't have a problem with my bangs growing. Matter of fact right now my bangs are about 2 inches past my chin. I have had one trim since I started growing my hair out just to straighten things up a bit and get my hair all one length.
Bangs have the farthest to go. Try to have patience. Two year's growth
and the bangs may just reach the ponytail tie...
Good Luck!
Bad luck!
