For so long I have tried to grow my hair really long in the back.
while I did grow it really long by some people's standards, it wasn't
long enough for me. I wanted it in the middle of my chest, which is
9 or 10 inches. It grows good for 6 or seven inches it basically stops. this is only after a year or maybe slighly more. The shortest
antagen or growing stage a person is supposed to have is two years.
therefore mine shouldn't have stopped or slowed down yet. I use moistoirisng shampos and conditioners daily. It is really thick hair also. therefore I don't think the ends are breaking or splitting. I trim them slightly now and then so I don't think they are breaking. SOme people cannot grow really long hair I have been told, but two
years is supposed to be the minimal growing stage. MIne should still be growing. someone pleaseeee ehllllppppp. thanks.
Are you sure it has stopped? Six or seven inches is in the normal range for a year or so of growth. The question that comes to mind is what length did you start with? Any growth over a year's time within the range of four to eight inches is not unusual.
Also keep in mind that hair seems to grow slower once it gets out of the face area. It isn't growing any slower, of course, but it seems to be. It's a perception thing. My hair seems to have proceeded at a snail's pace once it got to my shoulders, but it is still growing. As I said to a friend recently, "If you think watching a pot of water boil is slow, try watching hair grow!"
So don't lose hope. What I've said above may give you some. But you may in fact not be getting more growth, because despite normal ranges, all bell curves have widely trailing ends. What is the case for you only time will tell, and frustrating as it will be, the only way to learn the answer is to not trim and wait. In the meantime celebrate the thick healthy hair you have! Not everyone is so lucky. ((grin))
