Has there been any thought on putting up a FAQ that deals with actual beginner questions? Quite often we have new people come in here asking about how fast hair grows, what about all the hair that's falling out? Am a going bald? etc. . . .
Perhaps if a FAQ was put up we could minimize these posts
As Always,
That "Ball" Guy
That is a nice idea!
It probably would be worth having a longhair faq in one place.
Yeah, I've been there and I found it to be of the greatest help (I actually found that page before the hyperboard!) but perhaps it should be suggested in the already present FAQ page to read through "On Being a Longhair" (By Bill Choisser, I believe) before asking questions on the board.
Same here, found this board though the On Being a Longhair site. I found it probably a year ago, and didn't know a thing about hair then. It helped answer some important questions and gave me new motivation to keep growing.
Somebody first said that several years ago, and that was why that was written. Much of the information there was gleaned from posts here. I guess we all knew it was there when it was put up, but we've not been that good at getting the word out to newcomers. Sorry 'bout that.
Victor saw this thread and this morning dropped me a note to say he has now put a link to my longhair FAQ at the top of the FAQ page for the board (which deals with netiquette and technical issues surrounding the board, but not hair issues). His doing that should help.
Why minimise them? Its a great way to bring newbies in, you can deal with them pretty easily and it gives the "not-so-newbies" like me something they can reply to and feel important about.
;-)
...to the thought of feeling important, I'd venture a guess that human nature is to not really check out FAQ's.
