So a lot of you seem to cut their back during the ankward stage. Personnally, I see this as a huge loss of progress. I will not cut my back.
and now thats its grown to almost 10 inches, even at the back, instead of the back looking longer
I think it depends on how you define progress... personally I define progress from my top of my head because I envision having an even length style rather than a layered look.
So any hair that I grow, (say around my neckline) that falls further down my back than the top layers is surplus to requirements.
When I started growing I figured I had too options:
1) Let it all grow and in 2 years time when the top layers all reach my shoulder blades and my lower layers reach mid back - I could then get it all evened and loose 6-8 inches. But I would have gone through 2 years of crazy wild hair.
OR
2) Let the top layers grow and keep the lower layers in check until the top layers reach collar/shoulder length, then let it grow the final 3-4 inches all evened up.
I opted for choice 2) as it meant I could keep some degree of style whilst I grew out my hair.
number 2 in Sorted's post, i couldnt stand havign that mullet look
Ditto.
Agreed. When I grew my hair out, I let it grow naturally without cutting the back. Unfortunately, with last week's event (See post: Here we go again - AAARRRGGHH!!!), the back is cut. And layered. Also lost about 3" off the bangs.
